It just looks like a dumbed down X3 to me. If you're interested in this sort of game, I'd go for the X series instead - bigger universe, more ships, more customiseability, a more in-depth economic engine, the ability to build your own stations and factories. The graphics are slightly less demanding, but they still look top of the line and easily comparable. So yeah, only the graphics really impress me.

YES, this would be brilliant, the icing on the cake making the late-game stage much more interesting. I haven't read all of the suggestions, so forgive any repeating here. Perhaps the following could work: Exodus - An emopire suddenly suffers some disaster and must move on or die, their population being converted into loaded, long range, troop transport ships, except for, say, their most recent colony (if planets are a requirement/there aren't any stations). Re
It sure looks interesting, but it also looks too abstracted for my liking - a picture of a planet represents the whole system, and I don't think you actually directly build on planets etc. (like GCII improvements). Kinda' arcadey, but hey, a space-borne Total War style game should work out great.
Sounds sound. Dread Lords on Parade already partly fulfills this idea, but having the kind of late-game challenge you're proposing, would keep galaxy fresh and, well, challenging , long after most people's attention/commitment wanes. Perhaps once you research a certain high level tech, some (formerly uninhabitable) planets could be revealed to be already inhabited by dormant Dread Lords now awakened?
"Alastair Reynolds - "Revelation Space"" I'll second that, brilliant read, innovative and engrossing too. Oh, and it's pretty atmospheric for reading in conjunction with playing GC II. Though I'm afraid it'll expose the inadequacies of the generic content of the GC premise . Best space epic ever - read it ( and then read the r
Thanks, is there any word on this being fixed in 1.1? ...One can only hope Fachen
Looks smashing, but for me this would be the perfect game anyway, if they just solved the movement bug (player ships losing all movement capacity for several turns in a row) Fachen
I'm sure I made a thread about this before, but I can't for the life of me find it, so I'll keep thing's short - My fleets refuse to move for many turns on end, seemingly random, and certainly often: their movement points are stuck at 0/9 etc for every 5/6 turns. This is VERY annoying, war is rendered impractical Little help/acknowledgement here? It's hardly a performance related issue (everything else runs incredibly s
This getting seriously annoying and detremental to my enjoyment of the game. For no apparent reason my fleets often loose all their movement points for several turns in a row. It makes invasions nigh on impossible, because it can easily take a year to get all your fleets to reach the enemy. Has ANYONE got any tips/the same problem? Seriously, I make my ships mostl
This is incredibly annoying *ahem* Sometimes for upwards of 5 turns in a row, some of my ships have their movement points stuck at 0. nothing seems to alleviated this, and then one random turn they can move again.... before stopping once more. For instance, it took 2 years for an invasion force of mine to reach its intended target (the Korx who had been stuck to one system in the corner of space). 3 sectors at 4parsecs/turn it sho
I was just wondering if you first had to gain a rather high disposition from your wouldbe ally to get the option to appear. I've researched alliances and have a couple of races on "friendly", but no alliance option. .....I could really do with A power block right about now Fachen
Loads of little bugs, typos like " estau ant o the uni e se", mainly in planetary improvements. Most annoying is the inability to move ships and fleets for consequetive turns. Only 1 or 2 of the videos actually seem to play for me, even though the drivers on my ATI 9800 are pretty up to date (even if they were from the 90s they should still play 2D clips...). Sometimes the influence borders reset to the bare minimum, and only regain normality after about 3
Hi, I just got the collector's edition from play.com, though I could've sworn the regular version was the only one available... oh well, that's £17.99 well spent Anywho, I was wondering if there's a keyboard shortcut for rotating the camera, or failing that, could someone tell me who to configure an extra mouse button to be the middle click (windows doesn't seem to care for my mouse)? Either everyone has intelimou
