I really wish I had more time to muck with them, they're better than anything out there for developing engineering and thematic skills -- I owe all my talents to the Lego company, I think. Tell me about it. I've got a Ph.D in Engineering now and I think I have to thank the Lego Company in a big way for helping me choose my path in life. When you go round our office pretty much everybody played with Lego as a child and can relate much of their logical cre

I'm saving them for when I have children. That way I'll have an excuse to take them out and play with them. Why wait? My brother had his first child last week, but they knew the sex for weeks beforehand so I knew I had to get my/our Lego from my parents' before he took it for his son. I've spent the last few weeks rebuilding a lot of the old sets and even designe
I personally find the ship builder in GC2 just as much fun as the game itself. The extra jewellery in Dark Avatar was as much of a selling point to me as the changes to the overall gameplay! I can spend hours creating hugely complex ship hulls of intricate designs both of original design and inspired by popular science fiction shows/films. Having liberated all my old Lego from my parents' house recently, I realised that the ship designer is basically a huge Lego set with unlimited
I had a go at doing battlestar style designs when I first got GC2. Link Link (deliberately put these as links so as not to suddenly fill this thread with images) I might have a go at creating new ones over the weekend now I've got the Beta installed and can rotate components
It depends on whether they get proper ATI drivers working on the Macbook running XP since it currently only runs with a standard VGA driver. I suspect it's only a matter of time before they do, and when it does it should run like a dream. I've got a Powerbook 15" and recently got my office to purchase a Sony Vaio SZ1-XP for some work I'm doing. It's Core Duo as well with Geforce 7400 Go and GC2 works amazingly. If they get the ATI drivers running und
I should really read the manual, I've been playing off and on since the game was released in Europe (I'd be on 24/7 if I didn't have a job to do and thesis to finish) and I've been creating ships without realising I could scale the components.... oops. I'm just a typical engineer, I don't read the manual unless something breaks.
Someone asked if a Romulan Wardbird from Star Trek could be done. Had quick bash at it there. The top and bottom have holes since I had to cheat to make them, but looks not too bad:
Yet another Battlestar style ship. This is the Argus class, fresh out the shipyard with nothing fitted. It's an enhanced version of my previous Ulysses class Battlestar. More armour-syle extras, larger side-pods and more engines. I seem to be spending longer designing ships than actually using them these days!
Battlestar Ulysses (both as an empty hull and equiped with some evil mass driver weapons plus shields). The Drath Legion didn't know what hit them when they decided to rid the galaxy of my demonic civilization then found that one of these babies could destroy their entire invasion fleet without breaking a sweat <img src="http://www.mcmorran.co.uk/ima
