Okay, thanks! One more thing: Is there a way to get the minor races planets on a diplomatic way? Or can you only attack them to get their planets?

I´m new to GalCiv2. I played Master of Orion 2,3 and BOTF, so I do know a bit about round based games My questions: 1. Does the population influence the effectivity off factories and research labs at all? Or is population only needed for taxes. 2.
