It'll be free for all customers of Galactic Civilizations II What! You mean if I do not have your game I cant have the update for it? You guys suck . EDIT is it done yet?

Also I forgot to mention, Getting mines on the morale resources. Building the moral wonders and getting a bunch of survey ships out early to grab all those anomalys, these are things I do for moral. Also I forgot I play with a custom civ and I get the initial 20% moral boost from that. I agree the documentation is weak, this is a very complicated game and the manual definatly does not give enough information. EDIT my mistake my custom civ has a 15% morale boost
I find that I am almost never using defence in my ship designs either. Everything smaller then a large hull gets 5pc movement and as many guns as it will hold, and only one type of gun. They send in a fleet with no shields, I hit them with Laser ships armed to the gills. Usually wipe the whole lot out before one ship is even half damaged. With destroyer or larger ships I usually throw in 2, 2, 2 on D guess I just feel I need to use them for something.
Pain in my ass: I am sick of accidentially sending my fleets on a wild trip accross the galaxy because this game somehow allows me to have two fleets selected at the same time. I don't know how many times I though "what the hell, my fleet dissapeared!", only to find it moving to the same resource that I sent my constructor to.
I restart, sometimes you get a hopeless position. I've been restarting for the past few days... I just can't find the right balance of settings for habitable planets, number of planets, number of stars, galaxy size, and opponents. After I get frustrated of restarting, I do a campaign mission instead. </TAB
Be careful about buying colony ships early, your home planet has a very low population and those ships take people away. I like to let my home planet build a scout first, dont buy just let it build. By then the population should be up a little and you can buy a colony ship and you can use the scout to find planets so you do not waste time. Research better engines first, and upgrade your ships immediatly. Be careful about the amount of buildings you build early, they cost money to run. So dont b
Please increase the maximum allowable sensor range from 15pc to 30pc.
Well As I was playing the game and thinking about this subject, I discoverd a huge exploit with the way things currently are set up. Instant fully upgraded space stations in one turn. I was going to war with the drengin and they had a couple resourses I wanted, so I thought I will take a constructor with me so when I destroy their station I can build my own right away. Hmm ... why dont I take 10 constructors with me so I can build a station and fully arm it. For that matter why dont I take 10
Moon Bug, when you load a saved game all the moons are in sync with each other. I thought this was just a poorly thought out part of the game, but I started a new game and noticed none of the moons were in sync, I saved it and reloaded it and all the moons are now in sync.
FYI I stated a new game, noticed that the moons were not all rotating at the same place anymore. They were all in different parts of their orbits, WTF I think, I am sure they were all in sync. Save the game load up an old one, yup all in sync, quit, load up the new game, all in sync. When you load a saved game they get all lined up.
Nova Bomb ... "Ambassador Drangin, ah we are just doing a solar experiment, ya thats it an experiment. Um I forgot my whatchamacallit in another sector BRB"
I'm one of those that talk for StarForce, but I didn't knew about StarDocks buisnessmodel of serialbound free updates. But every other company except a few others will only release a few patches - often bugfixes - and as such pirates will not lose much by pirating those games. About the StarForce admin posting a link to a torrentsite that's something
The problem I see with that is it takes a way a game play/strategy element in hunting/down blocking the other guys' Constructors. I like the present system. It is easy to direct Constructors with Rally Points. The movement of the Constuctors represents the flow of materials to the site. In a war zone, those materials may not get through. Tony <
Well Stardock I can tell you that 'not' putting DRM on your product is the reason I bought this game. I didnt buy 'just' because there is no copy protection, I also enjoy 4x games and GC2 is a good game. There are alot of games to choose from and I can only buy a few, so when it came time to decide what my next game was going to be I saw no copy protection for GC2 and my decisoin was made. Starforce is the worst of the worst video game DRM out there, I personally will never touch a starfor
I also would like to see nabulas added to the game, but I do not want them impassable, I would prefer if they just affected things like shields and sensors. Asteriod fields would be cool as obstacles.
Well I have played though a couple of games and I have some thoughts on what I would like changed. The galaxy 1 Purple and Green stars, there are no purple and green stars. How about you make those into Binary star systems, no planets, Purple/green star systems never have habitable planets anyway. (or just make the purple ones binarys and make the green ones into yellow stars) 2 Red stars, Again these never have habitable systems so make them into red giants (3
Just one problem with not having all the upgrades for space stations. In the later game if you are unable to do all those military type upgrades your space stations will be useless vs the ships at that time. If you make less more powerful upgrades to the stations then they are too powerful at the beginning, no way around all the upgrades. I agree that building and moving all the constructors is a real pain. I like the idea of stations upgrading themselves but there has to be a price.
IMO stars should all be visible from the begining, just go outside tonight and look at the sky, stars are all visible to the naked eye. Planets and influence on the other hand should have to be discovered. Also I somewhat disagree that there is nothing left to discover early on, I was still discovering systems with minor civs late into a game (huge map) Obviously if you play a small map you will find everything early same as any 4x game. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center
When ships are on-top of each other everything seems to get screwed up, someone must have mentioned this but just incase ... here goes. Lets take three ships A B and C, they are all on the same tile. You select ship A and move it , it moves to its new spot, it is shown to be selected but the information shown is that of ship C. Now go select ship B, ship A is still shown to be selected and you now also have ship B selected. A and B are on two seperate tiles (both show as selected) and the infor
I am not sure if this is a glitch or a game rule. When you build the sensor wonder all your ship sensors go to 15. I built a sensor ship that went to 21, but the ship only ends up with 15. So is 15 the hard limit on sensors or is the wonder overriding my 21 with a 15.
Is it possible to MOD the size of stars? Could I make all red stars bigger for example. Is it possible to MOD how solar systems are created, for example could I make it so all red star solar systems have no planets? Also could I make it so the planets get placed further away from stars?
1. In the diplomacy screen, show the cost of technologies so you can see whether or not a proposed trade is good value in terms of research points. I would either add the number right next to the tech name, put it in the right-click dialog, or just show the total value of techs on the table. YES, thats the one I forgot. Anot
That'd be hella stuff for the computer to calculate. Better save that juice and use it for AI instead! I didnt mean that they rotate at the same speed, thats fine, its just they are all at the same location in the rotation, so it would just require different starting points.
Orange\red stars, make them 4x larger with no planets (red giant) Blue\white stars, make them 1\2 smaller with no planets (white dwarf) Green and Purple stars, get rid of them, make them yellow stars. Get rid of the need to build a planet improvement to enable planet fleets, if you can make fleets in space you should be able to have fleets in orbit. Home planets, should always be 20+ size planets. Also you should not have to research to unlock tiles on the home pl
If you have a bunch of constructors (on auto-pilot) arriving at stations the pop-ups are out of sequence. Seems that the game moves onto the next station before you have closed the last window from the previous station. With only two stations getting upgraded in one turn it is not too bad but if you get alot of stations getting upgraded the windows get really messed up.
