This is a fantastic idea, though maybe some parts would be too difficult to implement. I like the whole thing, but the basic premise of expanding land battles over multiple turns would, without any further tweaking (beyond teaching the AI to deal with it) result in a massive amount of emergent gameplay. Just wanted to add to the chorus of voices AGAINST multi-player. Clearly I don't mind having it there if it doesn't detract from the single player game, but SD is absolutely right that those of us who don't play multi-player have gotten the shaft from the MP demand crowd.
