I always ask the aggressor to make peace with the little people. Then help those little people build up fast. Give them $$$, ships, starbases, and anything else i can do to help them. Doesnt always work but prevents me going to war. Not that i dont mind war, i just personaly like to build my empire in peace. If i have to go all out i will. Why i personaly feel there needs to be more diplomatic options in game.

The AI is using this tactic on me now They have 2 of those rangers and they fly to one of my planets and just sit there killing my ships as i produce them. Until a transport comes along and takes a system (some failed but my smaller systems fell fast). I did have stronger tech skills and kept pushing for better armor. Finaly building a ship to negate
I am in a long war with another empire, we have been at each others throats since they got planet invasion first. But my tech is superior to theirs. My ships are stronger and better equiped. I send in 4 of my newly constructed cruisers and try to take out an enemy fleet consisting of 28 ships. 20 are small fighters, 5 are heavy fighters, and 3 are medium ships. I have better weapons and better armor. Now the battle begins and my 4 powerhouse ships start firing at the fight
With so many new pc games coming out and many being same genre it is hard to pick and choose. SO many games ive bought past few years have really sucked. Wish i illegaly downloaded the game and tried it first (not all games have demos). Though GC2 i had no fears that it was going to be crap, they do good work at SD. But now that most computer game retalers wont even exchange games or use them as trade in now you will see more people doing this. It really sucks that games ca
I always build these all around my borders and near my main planet clusters. I dont take chances. I know it costs a lot to build so many and upgrade them and have them ready to defend in time of war, but its well worth it considering the alternative. I lost a few planets and games due to culture vic for AI. I dont lose that way anymore. I think i may over do it a little but i have taken many planets out of war time due to this. Might seem cheap but i choose to play slower and often ge
One of my favorite races in Star Trek. Cant wait until Star Trek online comes out so i can be a romulan and have my own ship That is going to rough to make in game atm :/
^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ one thing i would like to see in any expansion coming our way.
Just because you cant set up a colony on every planet doesnt mean we shouldnt be able to set up bases or other structures to mine resources, help with trade, and boost our military. Im sure if Earth ever started to venture into space we would take advantage of every planet we could for resources and fuel depots
Dont know why i always double post. I click one time to submit and 2 posts always come up :/
I take the 20% military and social production. Then: 30% econ 30% tech 10% moral But my economy still suffers. Think i might have to go make tech and max econ and work my abilities and political standings aorund. Any advice would be greatful.
I normaly just build a few here and there find out where i want them and what kind. And then start mass producing them at my 3-4 main manufacture planets. When i get 4-5 finished i just send them all out at once. Might be slower but its less of a hassel for me. I can make these every 2 turns so its not a huge waste of time.
One of the races kept threatening me because i had fleets in their space and i built 2 influence starbases near 2 of their planets (pl 18 and 12). Ended up in a war with them over it. Most my games i play the other races get annoyed if my ships are near them or their planets. Odd you can follow and snatch planets from them. Maybe my issues were a 1 time thing
I havent crashed once and im running on an older machine. amd 1800+ 1.5 gig ram, x800 radeon. Im upgradingmy system next month to amd 64 3500 2 gig ram radeon x1600 or better. Only issues i have are with the economy some of these issues were stated in other posts so i wont bother to repeat them. Other than that, game is good.
Yes this is a very good game. At one time i wasnt going to buy because didnt have tactical ground battles not multiplayer, 2 things i wanted in GC@ but can live without. But i did enjoy the first one greatly so i decided to buy it and love it. Even without multiplayer and ground battles i have a wonderful time and no 2 games are the same. I love this in depth space strategy game.
Sorry for double post and wont let me edit one off
In mass they work well. They saved me last game when i wasnt prepared for war. Enemy AI opened up on me and wanted my main eco planet. Well right next to that eco planet i had a manufacture planet which pumped these tiny fighter class ships out left and right, while i used my core planets to make medium sized ships and transports. Believe it or not those tiny ships helped by keeping the enemy off guard and intercepting enemy troop transports. Needless to say i never lost t

Played it for a few days, wasnt to happy with it. Kinf of like the other rts game from starwars - clone something was the expansion. Played that until i lost my cd's in a move awhile ago :/ Empire at war was nice, had a lot of features, but i didnt like the idea of only being able to use a few units at a time :/ But is a good game.
Game i just got finished with 5 minutes ago ( i lost to cultural victory ) the alterans (sp?) just went nuts. The other 2 major races didnt do much though. Alterans i ended up finding out their main world was on other side of the map and they had taken nearly 60% of the planets on the map. I had 25% and that left the other 2 major races 15% between them <img src="http://images.stardock.com/g
I want to be able to play with other humans. Its more fun. Groups of friends will have more fun playing online than singleplayer. Empires will have a chance to battle it out for bragging rights. I vote B or C long as i get to go head to head with other human players. Ive had much fun with civ series, imperium galactica, MOO2, and other land/space building empire tbs games to simple dismiss the idea of multplayer in GC.
Multiplayer adds a new twist to any game. Many games ive bought that didnt have multiplayer ended up in a box after i got bored with them (including GC1 im afraid). Having multiplayer is a good idea, there is nothing better than 2+ humans going at it. Human versus human beats AI any time. Half the time i buy turn based strategy game its so easy even on the hardest setting. I enjoy a good game with a fellow gamer once in awhile. Some people say there will be bad appels and
