Dark Avatar, as a single product, is not. However, GalCiv2:Gold, which includes both the base game and DA along with a $10 rebate for existing owners of the original game, will. Excellent. DA has so much of what GC2 should have had in the first place, I will gladly wait for it to be in the stores. The reason for this is that a small company such as we are can't easily get two different boxes for the same game

Am I correct in assuming that Dark Avatar isn't going to have a proper brick-and-mortar release? Its a shame if it's true; the bulk of things people have been asking for, and no morally-acceptable away to get it for those pesky gamers who buy their games at game stores.
I realize this is way too late, but Download Only = I Won't Buy. Yeah, your digital sales were strong, but that's from Captain Pimply Of The Starship Megageek. Same people that bought the game because of the lack of copy protection. How are you going to cater to the rest of us?
the ability to move the masses of gamers You speak as if that does anything. Did the 'masses of gamers' make System Shock 2 a success? Or Planescape: Torment? Did it doom The Sims to failure? Halo? If we must use the term, the 'masses of gamers' you speak of are not the ones who have weight in today's gaming enviroment.<b
If you believe wholly in that, then you believe that you have no power to change anything in your life or the world! I believe that these kinda outrages are completely uninfluential. Of those
Do you want to see how many people download cracked versions and images of protected software of major games? Ten times more Doesn't matter. The guy responded to the "ha ha GC2 can do well without protection lolz" comment in a way that proved that people are downloading the game, and increased that amount considerably. Even i
suggest that anyone else who feels strongly about this or other StarForce abominations do something about it rather than sit shaking their heads in despair. Blog, write in forums, write to your favourite developers, join anti-StarForce sites (e.g. Link ).... do whatever it takes to bring down this nasty malware with the nasty company <
I want to shake the hand of the guy who posted the original message. If you go to a piracy-preventing's site and post "har har, your piracy-prevention stuff sucks", and gets a torrent link spread to the four corners of the Earth... I find nothing wrong with showing a torrent that says "yeah." Everyone remember this - only people online care about Starforce. The overwhelming majority of people will completely forget this situation, and will not remember it when they buy thei
While I do like that the devs are addressing the issues, there's one thing that sticks out to me - Do you know *why* people are saying "this game does that, do that?" It's because when people say that, they are correct. The most common usage of the "Other Game Does it" is on how information is presented in a clear, understandable way. When someone undertakes an action in Civ4, for example, it is 100% understandable just what will happen. If I build a Factory, I'
Is there an issue, or was he just tossing out garbage because he doesn't have a handle on the game yet? Paying for un-used social production, research bonuses not being close to the amount stated, no improvements actually giving the listed improvements (or even close), the game's "design decision" to not do proper math... <br/
You need to address them early, or you end up getting that problem. Good luck... If he's getting 30 DL battleships in 20 turns, it's a bug. Or what the devs would call a "design decision".
And to think, all the time spent on making the AI a tiny bit better could have been spent fixing the economy.
One might argue that the social spending "wastage" is realistic. I don't care if it's realistic. It's not fun. Even the Most Annoying TBS Thing of Late - Civ3's pollution - had the benefit of being understandable. GC2's economy is neither. It's unfun. You'd think the Devs would understand that the bulk of the negative com
"Armchair Developers"? You mean "gamers", right? When you come right down to it, if it doesn't make sense to the gamer, the system has failed. Obviously, many gamers are currently at odds with GC2's economy, because it fails to provide that which is *required* nowadays - precise, correct information. GC2 simply doesn't provide that. Instead, it provides irrational and illogical answers, which the Devs attempt to rationalize at every turn. Sadly, looking at the original's cu
I don't care how the devs rationalize it, making me pay for un-used social production is wrong.
