Just a few words for you to consider: The Temple of Elemental Evil by Troika . This game was utter perfection(aside from the usual atari bugginess) in 4X RPG fantasy gaming. I have been looking forward to someone taking up the helm on a sequel(at least in spirit?) ever since I beat that game for the first time(and 2nd and 3rd and 4th times). The combination of turn-based strategy combined with RPG style leveling system was a recipe for Pure Addiction. Anyways I a

I guess in reality Civ 1 was the first. However I didn't consider it as such, never even knew the term TBS back then. So even tho I played it before Jagged Alliance 2, I still consider JA2 the first TBS game I fell in love with. There is a funny story about how it was a random thing how I actually found the game but it is long and pointless so I'll leave it at that. Anyways, sigh....GC2 is a great game and all, but still....no game will ever be as near and dear to me as old Jagged was. "Roc
Awesome ideas there, frogboy.... Right now im wishing CIV4 had the same sort of system, after installing in on my computer once again to find out, yes, the computer does cheat its little hiney off just to stay competitive. Plus it just sits there like a comatose invalid on moderate, and rolls you right over before you blink on hard. An issue I am sure will not be fixed with the expansion, so I might just very well skip it in lieu of the GC2 expansion *drool*
amen brotherman! preach the gospel! *gives his donation(in form of buying more games) to the church of stardock for cleansing his soul of the evil copy protection schemes*
Amen to the comments about "good enough." I get so frustrated when playing other (major) games coming out these days all fail to meet the high standards of polish that an indie game like GC 2 establish. And it is even stranger to see people on these forums ranting about this and that minor feature that isn't perfected or up to their lofty standards. Those people either need to get used to the idea that no game can be perfect or just try and organize(and finance) their own perfect game and see
A more involved storyline/branching scenarios....the SP campaign is pretty lame in the base game.
A vote for No Multiplayer here. What I want to see is....Story. Here my out on this. What a game like Galatic Civ screams out for is more narrative in the single player game. I think really adding a multiplayer would be wrong because its single-player mode is so fleshed out compared to the multiplayer. The multiplayer would be bare-bones and probably buggy(being stardock's limited support they can give and the wide variety of configurations they would need to deal with). <b
I LOVED Civ4. That is, until I realize that, no matter what difficulty level you set the game at, the AI will not and cannot do anything differently. Going over one xml file after another, you discover just how many handouts and freebies the AI must be given just to be able to not be completely wiped out by an experienced player. So basically you play the game on monarch(or medium difficulty), or the computer cheats like an over-caffeinated CS junkie. I think for a game a
I think it is humerous when people moan and complain about a patch from you guys messing up their games....MOST NORMAL game companies would say "hey we will get to it" and a month later, they release a patch(maybe). With Stardock it is like there are robot minions working on patches 24/7, and they are beaten severely and made to work even harder when there is a problem with a patch. By the way, I love you guys. But in a purely "you make my gaming day bright and cheerly"
Same here, plus the price of 29.99 is something unheard of with most games just released and top-sellers. I think that if every game was about that price and didn't have the intrusive cp schemes most do, then I would be able to go out and find alot more games I might like. I think it is pretty selfish of most publishers to push the price of copy-protection on consumers at 50 bucks a game, with much less actual Stuff too! I remember buying falcon 4.0 coming with a whole binder full of manuals,
UI fixes and galactic encylopedia for the win! Oh and also maybe make "auto-explore" actually, like explore the map? Instead of gathering all my scouts at one corner of the map? Anyways love what youre doin with the game! Keep it up! Thanks!
Awesome news. Congrats all you hard-working developers at Stardock! Now start crackin' on those next patches and expansions..
Carielf has a very thin skin, indeed, if my caustic comments, which were entirely accurate, get under her skin. Maybe you are mistaking the fact that you have a thick skull and she does not? Anyways, anyone who still clings to a dead and buried OS like os/2 really has no point in arguing business matters. And Yes, I have used it before, actually at
Congrats on the article Cari, your work itself shows how a traditionally male role can be done just as well(better) by a female.
Two words: NO MULTIPLAYER. If people want a great mp tb experience, civIV is just calling out for you to play. No space battles? Just wait a few monthes. People are modding it like crazy to make it into a million other games. That will be just as long as it takes stardock to finish a sub-par(as all after-the-fact ones are) mp addon. Anyways I just don't want this great game I bought to become a swiss army knife. I want it to be a bowie kni
