Graphics card overheat apparently is a problem for this game. I've had the whole crashing thing going for me too ever since I installed it. At my wits end today, I took my tower fan from my room and had it blow into my case. Apparently, that was enough to keep it working. Game ran for over two hours uninterrupted! Needless to say, I was happy. </font

Yeah, good call on that one. Hadn't thought of that. It's easy to make the custom races when the user is the one in control, but adding a generic AI to apply to any custom races wouldn't do the game justice. Sounds like a giant mod-job to get something like that working. Oh well.
Scratch that question about whether or not you can do it now. I just noticed that you can't even select custom race on the screen where you choose your adversaries. The question still remains, though, of whether this is a patch item or will be a patch item in the future. If anyone has thoughts on the topic, please post them.
I was just curious to know if there was a way to use more than one custom race in a game. Is there a way to play as a custom race yourself and then, when selecting who you're facing off with, choose multiple OTHER custom races, or does GC2 limit the use of custom races to one a game? If it is limited to one per game, does anyone know if there are thoughts on adding this kind of feature in a later patch? The other day I had the idea to play a game wi
Thanks, HEEGZ. Here's what I can tell ya: 1. My primary device has the newest nForce drivers available from NVidia. The other device is inactive, but just to be certain, I disabled it in device manager. 2. My full BSOD message was "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFFFE8080, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x806EE2DC)" 3. I also turned off AA, leaving auto-save off as before. I still got the BS
An excellent thought there, Yordians. I gave it a shot, though, but GalCiv2 still went BSOD on me. I can't find a pattern for when the failure occurs. The last time I was just entering the ship-design interface, but it's done it to me a couple times while speaking with the Yor, a couple times while speaking with other races & minor races, but most of the time it's just, pardon the pun, out of the blue. If you or anyone else comes up with a thought
I get the BSOD all the time too. I've got the latest drivers for everything and set the range of my page file to between 2GB and 4GB. I keep getting this "IRQL_not_less_or_equal" message, now that I turned off the auto-reboot. I've posted my debug.err file in the STICKY for Known Issues, but here it is again: Debug Message: Version v1.0X.1 last updated on: Mon Mar 6 13:57:14 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No.
#2 Game crashes randomly while playing! Happens to approximately 2.5% of users. Well, I guess this is the category into which I fall. The crash is random. I've had it go for over an hour and not crash. I've also had it crash so quickly it doesn't even finish loading my saved game. Most often the crash is a BSOD that rapidly restarts my computer. (So rapidly, in fact, I can't read the message. Something about IRQ and Zero. It's there for half a
