I've run into a couple of bad bugs. One no matter what I did with spending my credits would not change. Thus I could go negative on spending and not go negative on credits. Research was showing 1 turn on main display even while showing correct number on research screen. Reseach stopped showing on graph. Also prior game I had one AI run away on tech. (I've never seen that before but perhaps they had a bunch of 7X and mines.) The credit problem takes al

I manage to get decent or good odds most of the time. I try to get the computer number as low as possible but that does not mean clicking when it is displaying a low number. Rather it's a learned thing. Somehow my brain just adjusts and clciks and I can't really tell you how. I do know once in awhile I'll get misserable odds but hey ......
I think the logic goes like this. When the defectors see they will not win they um undefect.
Hmm, I use Netscape 8.1 and had to tell it to display like IE for this thread to look decent. I'll know about the forums in a min. Prior to doing that however the forums were basicly jumble for me. (Kind of like reading something with no puncation.)
IMHO leave them here. Perhaps getting rid of general replys in some forums might help reduce flaming. Should you use an off site service you no longer have the same level of input and some disconnect begins to grow between you and your customers. Think of it this way. Why do you bank where you do? If a local bank, would you be upset if the service was done elsewhere? Would it upset you to not have a person you can go see if a problem comes up? That is kind of what s
Actually one really nice thing about this game is once you do have a huge lead there are more than military options to get the game over! If nothing else one can go for a tech victory,.
Also it takes time to build up a military. Races don't start with plantary invasion etc. So the AI has to balance infra-structure and military. Going military too fast would just result in a "loss" to that race. It does not good to invade someone if you then have no money to build any more ships, etc. Note the population growth is also slowed in 1.1 (and holds over to 1.2) . Kind of hard to grab a few billion folks and throw them on transports unless you have enough base. Again thi
Not loaded latest version yet but prior version made a ton of transports on me like ubertaco reports. Also, note that going random on race intel at set-up could give misleading results for the races and their respective AI and bonus.
Here also is a good series if you have not read it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stainless_Steel_Rat
?! So how did you not lose? Is tech victory not an AI option?
I tend to go labs first and 100% on research. Then once I have a couple of labs rush buy factories. (Of course I'll rush buy ships as needed also but may wait until I have better engine techs.) Once I have engine techs I want I'll move slider off 100% research.
Traditional with download option would be my choice. Of course it could be sold with game updates. (As in when folks log in to update to latest version if they don't have the expansion they could be prompted to purchase it if they so desire. Of course limit the times folks would need to answer this! Or you could simply place an ad on their
Jesh, in that postion why was he not using seperate drives! I've used 1 drive for op system and a few core programs, with second drive for games and other software for years! Makes taking care of driver problems and or drive failures much simpler.
I have not seen the AI cheat. I have seen a bug where I got a planet with 2 mfg capitals. AI has had fleets of about 9-10 ships in my last game. AI is building much faster ships too. AI still giving away mining bases to help support wars..... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/SadAngry.gif" border=0 ALIGN
Dang, with AI changes it's going to be a lot harder to win at even! Ah, well , perhaps soon rather than finding a "weakness" in the AI that is always there to win at even one will have to be flexible.
Hmm, seems like galaxy size and number of races at start should figure into scoring also.
For me you only have a fraction of a sec to get me to look at the actual ad. It needs to jump out and say somehow this game is the type of game I like (or alternatly pretty scantly clad females seem to also grab my eye.) Once you have my eye I want to know what type of game it is quick . (Kind of like box info.) Still I tend to buy from reviews and word of mouth.
You forgot one more item. The AI has to do all that FAST. Not many folks would like waiting 5-10 each turnn on the AI!
ROFLOL If that's a small list I don't want to rea d a major change list!
I also have seen the AI pick the poor planet in a system. If it knew all the planets it would have taken a different one but it took the first one it saw. Remember good tatics may not be what you think.
Sounds like postive changes! I hope the new growth model works better now. (If not I'm sure you will change it until it does work.) Hard to grasp just how much you are changing or adding ! I do hope other companies will follow your lead in this area. (Now my wife wishes you'd screw the game up but that's a whole different issue....
True, but points also need changed for items. Growth is worth a lot more in 1.1 than it was in 1.0x .
Could be the AI is weak late. Thus it only looks like the Torian's are too strong. Still that is IF the computer plays them. What about if the human plays them?! Then we are looking at them being un-balanced. Simply put population growth is overpowering in the Beta. Since it's a beta and since it's a new system it's to be expected it would not be perfect out of the box! A simple change in the way pop growth is calculated may be all t
Not only do they get planets faster but they get them filled up with population faster as well. More pop = more tax = more research+production
Just more fuel for the furnaces... Makes the game a bit more challenging, which is nice - my first game with the beta had the Thalans develop in the mid-game to become the galaxy super-power, something I'd never seen from them before. The Torians are pretty good at the initial colony rush now, but still easy prey afterwards, so I
