I think the ship technologies and design in MOO2, and the tactical battles that let you play with your creations are the reason that MOO2 still has a place on my hard drive after so many years. Galciv2 has its own personality, and I don't know if said features would be a good fit for it, but I also don't think that there are any other features that would entice me into buying a sequel or even an expansion pack. Multiplayer certainly isn't worth $0.02 to me personally. I already get

I have to wonder about reviewers who knock a turn-based game for leaving out multiplayer. Unless I'm just hopelessly out of the loop, and someone has actually managed to make a turn-based game that is anything less than an exercise in frustration when played with other people. But somehow I doubt that anything has changed since I tried and hated multiplayer MOO2. And I was playing with a friend, in the same room no less, and it still sent
