I'm using 1.0x also and I'm generally impressed with the AI. The list for 1.1beta looks good so I'll have to try that after my game is over. The main weakness I see in the AI is that it does a poor job of choosing its battles, which unfairly handicaps it as it throws away ships in hopeless battles. This is mainly a problem when I have a fully loaded military starbase helping me out. Can the AI see that the fleet it is attackin

Yeah same here, I was confused, but must have hit the right buttons because everything worked great.

Back to the topic.... I too was surprised at some of the obvious problems with GC2 at release. BUT 1. None stopped me from enjoying the game. 2. Stardock is aggressively working on GC2, and seems very responsive to input. 3. I'd rather be playing GC2 like it is, than waiting for it. 4. There are NO OTHER comparable games recently released to buy in this genre. GC2 looks great, and is fun to play, that's why GC2

The latest build, pre 1.1 usually has decent escorts for the transports, but they still move into range of my more powerful fleets. The AI just hit me with what seemed to be a coordinated attack from the Archeans and Altarians. They upped their logistics, and their ships are now considerable larger than mine. My starbase and my fleet experience saved my butt, but I am going to have to change strategy or they are going to grind me down. My

Sometimes when the focus is on a ship with no sensors within the range of a ship with sensors, the "view" provided by the sensor ship disappears and only the "view" from the non-sensor ship appears on the map. My sensor ship was destroyed, but it's sensor view remains like it's still there.

Nano ripper is powerful but the trade-off is it's more expensive and bigger, and you will keep paying for it with increased maintenance. I like that they included it as a choice, makes the game more fun.

Are you playing on the largest map? I've found that the AI will build larger/better ships as it it completes more research. It completes more research when it has lots of good planets. In my current game the Drath on the other side of the map have a military rating of 385 to my 22, so while my immediate neighbors with a rating around 140 and medium hull ships can be dealt with, I'm sure It will be getting much more difficult soon enough. <br/

Another thing I am noticing about the AI is that is does adapt, just slowly. In my battle with the altarians above I sent out some ships and hit all of their starbases. Yes they let me wipe out everything they had because they didn't have anything to catch my ships, and their starbases were weakly defended or helpless. They did up the speed of some of their newer ships from 2 to 4, I assume to try to catch my ships. Not great but it's a start. <b

I know exactly what you mean. Look up my post "Some examples on why the AI on intelligent needs to be better" It's longer but details some of the obvious problems I've seen with the AI. The AI never seems to plan "how do I defend" or "how do I attack" like a human would. People recon to determine enemy strength, and then plan an attack/defense based on likely odds of winning. If the odds don't look good, a human would look to other w

Ok, before I get to that please consider the following. I am using the latest 1.0 version not 1.1 yet, I don't know if Stardock is working on them already. These issues really detract from a great game: Have ships in only one square selectable at one time unless holding CTRL so that I don't send fleets from different squares all over the place. Add access to all ship commands for stacked ships on the UI. Fleet, disband,

I gifted a very nice ship to a minor race. It sat around for some time then went and attacked their enemy. I lost track of it but way later I saw that they had given it to the Drengins, because it came back to fight me.

If it were cheaper to upgrade it would create gameplay problems. Think of it this way, if you get a good combo advantage of weapon/defense and win a battle against the AI, with cheap upgrades the next turn you could be facing an entire fleet of AI ships configured just to right to beat your winning design.

screenshot #1shows a starbase info screen. When upgrading I was given the choice of upgrade #III twice. I chose it twice, now the info screen shows 2 general weapon upgrades of class III. The next screenshot shows a square ouside a minor race world I invaded. I added 2 transports into a fleet and it created a ZERO ship fleet with no pic. I did this three times. I had 5 transports plus another fleet of 3 ships in the square when this happened. I just created this

First off, I downloaded the entire game on Wed night with no problems. I got about 100k/sec so it took a few hours. The stardock software worked fine and everything installed correctly with minimal effort on my part, which is good because I didn't know what I was doing. The interface and graphics look top notch, everything is crisp and detailed. I only had a couple of minutes, soI played around with the ship designer and noticed the groupings for the parts aren't as easy
