I'm pretty sure the trade doesnt become yours, they already have a monopoly on it. It you get a trade good from another race it means you use it (and get the benefit) but you dont control its distribution.

Making the core designs dissapear might not be such a good idea, because of the one useful core design: the colony ship. it has more on it than you can put on a cargo hull at that point in the game, and if it wasnt there, it would probably put you at a bit of a disadvantage.
i think he might mean when it says e.g.: Ranger [3 other techs needed: blah blah] Bear in mind that you can make your own ship with whatever things you have researched, just stick them on, you don't need to research the specific combinations to get the already made ones.
no multiplayer at the moment, but it might come in an expansion later.
Bear in mind that each colony ship you launch will take that many people from your starting planet, and also that newly established planets have low polulation at first, and thus will cost more to keep up than you will get from them.
I know this is would hardly make a massive difference, but at the moment (as far as i can tell) star names are taken from the 'STARS.txt' file, but it only seems to take the top few ones, meaning you always get the same star names, and the bottom 3/4 of the list are redundent. Would it be possible to make it randomly select stars from the list? (I realise that this might not be possible because of judging where the end of the list would be, etc).
That first post probably isn't the official answer. The game works for most other people as far as I can tell. As to who to speak to, try emailing stardock (since they won't neccessarily read every post in the forums).
ships automatically moving move at the end of your turn, when you click the 'turn' button (with the exception of the turn you originally give the order)
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before. I find the minor races pretty useful as trade partners, and so I generally try to keep the local ones alive if i can. In one of my recent games oone of them asked me for help against the Drengin Empire, who were sending fleets to destroy their defending ships. I responded by giving them some of my own ships which I wasn't using, but then because they don't usually have military ships outside of their ow
defenders are just one of the stock ships. make any other ship with a 'small' type hull with your new weapons, then click your old defenders in the game, and click 'upgrade' down on the interface. then you can upgrade them to anything with the same hull size.
