Yor: Eco +20 Morale +20 Population +25 Social +20 Military +20 Soldiering +30 Creativity Logistics +6 Loyalty +100 Miniaturization +10 Federalists +20 This is the starting spread for the Yor (modified with the 10 points) A "custom" race starts with 15 points and can't even come close.... thoughts?

I have been playing the Yor - who start with hideous bonuses (imho) and then with an additional 10 racial points with which I can up their economy, moral and population growth. Recently I decided to try and make a custom race - yet they seem so much inferior compared to the pre-made. They seem capable of about 2/3rds of the advantages. Am I missing how to make a race? I can be more specific if necessary but was curious on people's thoughts/suggestions for a c
Any word from Stardock about when/if a fix is in order? This just ruined my current immense game as the Yor.
I was playing a game with the Yor in an immense (biggest) galaxy with the AI on tough. Several things bothered me: 1) Again and again during planetary invasions, I lost to the Krynn even though I had superior forces - especially when they invaded my planets. Example: I would have a soldiering rate of 35, a tech rate of 545903, and 4500 troops, the Krynn would hit me with 2000 soldiers with a soldiering rate of 21, a tech rate of 441448 and would win with less than 50% lo
Actually, I have had tech trading disabled for all my games :) I just got my butt kicked for the first time by the Krynn. Thought I was big man in the universe since I was #3 in the ratings and hadn't built a military ship yet - usually I start building and rocket to the top spot quickly - not this time - the Krynn declared war and proceeded to clean my clock .... great game.
I have had this occur. A way around it is to launch a ship from a planet and make it move - then the game will go to the next ship and the turn button will reappear - I think it has to do with a planet/end point suddenly being conquered or when ships need re-routed suddenly....
[quote]Especially the greatest flaw, that comes from the multi-threaded way the game runs is something that we will just have to live with. If you want to experience this bug, go play a DVD, run defrag, and copy a big file on your harddisk around. While all this is going on, start up Twilight. Now start a game, play for a few rounds and as you are coming up on a very event-intensive turn (i.e. research project complete), hit Ctrl+N to quickly start a new game. Since your computer is so t
What are your system specs? I played for 6 hours straight on an immense galaxy with 9 opponents plus minor races and haven't had a twitch, stutter or crash. I have had the research screen pop up twice in that 2 hours - not a big deal overall. This game gets so much more "right" than "wrong" .... your post makes it sound like you bought Dungeon Lords or some such piece of shareware released as a retail game... You seem immature to me given the nature of your po
That is weird... I've been playing it for about 30-40 hours and haven't had one crash yet.
Ok - good to know. In future games I will turn out a lot cheap scouts and sweep the areas methodically (hate the time it takes so often ignore it at beginning)
I play with tech trading off. I am in an immense galaxy with uncommon planets, common stars, common most everything else.... I am playing the Yor. The AI is Tough (maybe one step up.... don't remember) I am in the lead and doing fine with my economy. I have 100% production, am producing spies and have my planets filled in terms of their tiles. I gave the Yor a morale bonus, econ bonus, and pop bonus and took the +20 econ government (can't remember which one it is) I persona
I am playing an immense map. That is a lot of grey "soup" to explore. Yet the AI seems to know exactly where to go with constructors to claim the galactic resources. Does it cheat?
I, overall, am finding this to be the best GalCiv (1 or 2 with expansions) yet. I personally like the new economy and feel it is much more realistic in terms of managing an empire. I was the number one empire in an immense universe with 9 opponents (plus minors) and with AI on tough. The two empires closest to me were in the number 2 and 3 spot. I went to war with one and while in the midst of a protracted struggle - the other declared war on me! My economy, po
Terror Stars: I want.... A terror star that is a death star. Full of weapons, shields, etc. plus the ability to blow up stars - a one unit fleet of death. It is the coolness factor - nothing else. Anyone who can actually build the sucker with all the required tech is already smashing the universe! Where it would be cool is where multiple races on a gigantic/immense galaxy are fielding them - sort of a battle of the Titans. Make Terror Stars the ultimate HUGE
I totally agree. Now making war feels real - a drain on your economy. Woe to a huge empire who finds itself battling 3-4 foes at once! Huh - didn't quote for me for some reason .... I was agreeing with a post that liked the changes and listed the new depth.
Just give what most people want: A terror star that is a death star. Full of weapons, shields, etc. plus the ability to blow up stars - a one unit fleet of death. Where do you specify this? I cannot find the setting.... I see the size of the galaxy (obviously) and on the last screen where you can set # of opponents but not the spacing of races in the universe - is this on a custom map or on a computer generated game? Still confused - sorry.
Will America "always" be a super power? No. We are a young country and no country as history continues is able to stay a "super power" forever.... simply impossible.
When you say that races start very far apart - are you able to set that as a variable somehow? or did you make a custom map? or do you re-start until those are the race positions?
I would be interested in hearing opening strategies for different races. Please identify the race you are playing first, and then share, in specific, how you expand on all levels. Why? Because I don't know about you, but I'm getting spanked by the new tech trees and decisions - it is taking me a lot of experimenting. I am playing the Yor so far and have pretty much played non-stop (ahhhh my professional life). I have tried the Terrans and the Iconians. <

Clearly the Terrans are going to win in that pic. I sort of miss the old one since it reminded me of MoO days. Although the new one is more streamlined and current..... I even miss the sounds, to be honest, the little lasers on an electronic keyboard.... lol. Ah well, don't mind the new one. There is simply no nostalgia factor
I have all 3 and would say this: it is night and day. Dark Avatar made GC2 much better imho and ToA simply adds wonderful new dimensions - especially with the tech trees for each race (heaven) Get it. And, trust me, this is objective - I would have no problem telling you if it was simply more eye-candy or had flaws etc. This is one of the best expansions I have bought.
I enjoy gigantic sandbox games.... drawn out games of conquest across a massive galaxy where the AI and I have a level playing field. I have mega events (and everything else except tech stealing) turned off. Yet: 1) I have received an Arnor Ranger which is indestructible... I am literally hundreds of turns into the game and yet this ship can devastate anything in its path... The Krynn were the #1 empire and I was #3... but even so this ship can blow their fleets
