I know what you mean about not getting to the bigger ships before the game ends. I've never tried it, but I'd guess that setting the Technology Rate to the fastest setting might get you to huge hulls before victory or defeat. I might try that next game. Of course, the AIs will have the same tech rate and potentially get the bigger ships too. But at least, hopefully, you'll be able to play with the big ships before the end. <img src="http://i

I went back to that saved game to see if it was a money problem, though it shouldn't at Tough difficulty. Gave the Torians 5000bc and let ~50 turns go by. Nothing. Industry still flatlined and no constructor built even though that influence resource was sitting right there in the Torian system. Oddly, during those 50 turns I got contacted by the Korx who were not bugged. They'd taken over most of the other half of the large galaxy. Kids in a
Okay, same problem in the latest beta. Tough difficulty, custom race, no tech trading, random opponents (9), large galaxy, random intelligence (though on Tough I guess they're all intelligent regardless). I have a save game if it's desired. I was suspicious because the industry, tech, and military graphs showed no activity for the AIs. Then I visited the Torian system and saw an un-mined influence resource a few squares away from their homeworld. Oops, the AI has given up the game. <i
I had one of these games too (beta 1), on Tough difficulty. I used it to experiment with influence tactics. Next game was with the beta 2 and all was normal.
Yep, this happened to me for the first time last night (beta 2). I couldn't see any donated ships but a dozen turns later I noticed a spot of my color on the edge of the map within my current enemy's territory. A military resource starbase. So check the map for new starbase acquisitions when an AI donates "ships".
Mid-game with a Large map, 9 AIs (w/5 now surviving), Normal difficulty, random intelligence, and no tech trading. I started getting crashes that brought up the exception window. Reloading saved games could sometimes get me a little further, but eventually another crash would occur. Here's my report, with the info as recommended for crashes in the sticky: debug.err info: (top "page") Debug Mess
I'm playing the same kind of game I always play: passive diplomatic victory goal. Before the beta 1.1, I rarely saw that message. But I've seen it from three different civs in my first (only) beta game. The only things I can think of would be a hypersensitivity of the AI to sudden military buildup or to influence starbases outside my own "territory". The first AI to "know what I'm doing" showed that message sometime after I went from zero mi
Bug: free techs in trade if you build the Temple of Righteousness. Apparently the AI thinks the improvement is a valuable trade item. Sometimes a Neutral race will attempt to trade the Neutral improvement for it, more often they'll trade something else. In the first case, the alien conversation mentions trading the Neutral improvement for the Temple of Righteousness but neither show up in the trading windows. I can accept, it says "Thanks", but nothing transfers. In the more common s
