So if we submitted the entire cast of star trek with photoshopped mustaches you'd accept it

If its no fun why are you playing? IMHO, you can tell this game was made by a very loyal group of programmers who really loved it. Not sure what you want when you talk about "Soul". It sounds like you want a game with a story. GalCiv is an X4 game, they dont tend to have stories. Comparing this game to Starcraft or warcraft is like comparing SUVs with Sport Cars. They are on completely different levels.

Has anyone else noticed that they suggest renaming the new ship design, but if you do then you dont get the screen right after you save the design were you can upgrade all your current ships to the new design.

What exactly does that rant have to do with the other poster. A lot of people are playing this game without many problems. A few crashes here and there but nothing major. It sounds like the majority of people having crash problems need to patch there game and update there drivers.

I still can't believe that I am one of the few people who still see's the benefit of paying hard-cash Cash is so last century. Pay online, direct download is the way to go(most of the time I guess). Stardock will even ship you a cd copy for free(at least they didnt charge me shipping for mine) Anyways to the guy who hasnt g

But the Drengin and Yor are fun. Especially when they ally and start rampaging through the galaxy. Another way to stay in good terms with the races is to make sure your alignment matches those of the dominate races. Good sticks together, Neutrals tend to not bug each other and generally evil only starts attacking each other after all the other races are wiped out.

I like pretty pictures . I usually start my game with coming up with a sorta theme for my ships. And then make all of them have the same style, so it generally only takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to pump out a new ship design when I get a new hull. Whats nice is that GalCIV2 makes it so that if you enjoy the ship design and graphics then

You know, having a race surrender to you can suck. I was in a game where the Iconian had, through occupation and starbase, literally had Influence over the whole galaxy. I mean an entire grey screen here. No one elses colors showing. We were all losing planets to them en masse. I had been pushing my economy to get ships build so I could start taking there planets to hopefully reduce the influence, when out of the blue the Drengin surr

Well you can do the hard thing and try to raise your approval. OR You can just piss off your enemies until thye declare war on you. Just start builing Military and Influence star bases in there space, and start massing transports right next to one of there planets. If the AI is set smart enough it will declare war on you.

I've seen this before. I would save the game and reload. See if they move then. Sometimes I think its an actual glitche, other times its the AI just waiting to bounce again against an enemy.

If your PC is rebooting, its probably not the game. You might be overheating, have bad memory, or a failing hard drive. Or just outdated drivers. GalCiv II still crashes on me every once and a while, but its always just a crash to the desktop. If your PC is bsod or rebooting, you have a problem that is beyond a game patch.

Its all luck. So if you really want them take the lucky racial ability and be part of the universal party. Rangers are great, but like others have said. They are way to slow. Plus on intelligent AI they will see it as a very big threat and team up to take it out. I find they are best used for planet defense.

I had the same thing happen. But I had taken lucky as a racial power and was the universal party. So I had a huge luck bonus. In my one game I had 6 Rangers at the end. To be honest they are tought, but there slow speed makes them less useful then the Genocide Class Ships(Huge hulls with Phasors and Warp Drives) I was building by the end. I ended up using them as planet defense ships while mmy faster ships swept out and crushed my enem

I had this happen in a game the other night The Drengin and I have been at war on and off for almost the whole game. Finally I was able to build up a powerful fleet and push them back. As a last ditch effort before I took his last two worlds, he managed to get a small fleet past me with some transports and take two of my world. He then surrendered to my Thalan allies. So not only did I get his last two planets, I would have to risk war

your sentence has a grammatical error or two itself. Me fail english. That unpossible.

Take a look at the race info screen and see what they like and dislike about you. Just giving them money and tech doesnt always work. On hard difficulties the AI knows you are just trying to buy there friendship.

if you are gonna complain about the grammar in the game, you should refrain from writing sentences like this "Who's a corrector out there which has an off-hand job done?" , I'm not even sure that that means. Anyways, this isnt a huge company making the game. Its a small team. Let them fix the actual bugs in the game before they start tackling there spelling errors.

Have you tried saving your game, then quiting GalCiv 2, maybe rebooting and then starting it up again and loading. A fresh load of the saved game might speed things up a lot. Also check your video card temp. There is the known issue about them getting very hot while playing. Might be causing you slow down as well.
