My only complaint about the dock is that it can't be moved, so it gets in the way of the task bar. Also it Impulse bugs me because it overrides my task bar setting of 'always on top'.

You can use the chat function in SDC many of the Devs like Cari_Elf and Frogboy can be found there almost all the time. Other helpful Stardock people can be found there as well like Darth Kryo. You may want to uninstall SDC and try a reinstall to see if it works or install Impulse http://storage.stardock.com/files/Impulse_setup.exe IRC is the most direct way to contact Stardock personnel for questions and support. Just use the chat function in SDC.

The only way video games could infect your PC is if someone managed to slip a virus in during production, which has happened to commercial programs in the past but is extremely rare. Or if you are downloading games from a third party that could have slipped them in. The ways most people get viruses are by surfing porn sites, file sharing sites, and downloading things from sites.

I leave my computers on 24/7 unless there is a storm, only because of power outages. I should by a UPS for that, but I have other priorities at the moment. There are several ideas on whether or not to leave the computer on. What it really comes down to is one question. Are you on your computer more than you are away from it? If you use your computer often it is better for your hardware to leave your machine on. The reason being that things like your hard drive need to spin up when being

Impulse looks better than SDC, it seems to start slower though. I am having trouble updating Icon Packager because it says my registration is invalid. I am showing an update is avaialable for Theme Manager too, but it won't let me do anything but run the program or ignore the update. Also Impulse won't let the task bar be on top. I have to minimize Impulse to use my task bar. I do like the way SDC manages my games better. The games I have purchased no longer appear in the SDC store but all games

Gormoth1, first of all the install limit hampers more than how many machines you wish to play on at the moment. Many gamers will continue to play games several system upgrades into the future. There is no such thing as good DRM. If I have to register online even one time to just to play the game, it is too many times. I paid for the product, or at the very least use of the product. I should be able to use it however I see fit as long as I am the one using it. I should not have to crack

Mistralok, Stardock does not require you to register the game in order to play it. That is the difference. You are only required to register to get free and frequent updates, which due to the frequency of updates from Stardock makes registering worth the hassle. Most companies do not update as frequently as Stardock. Even with the frequent updates Stardock provides not everyone wishes to register or install Stardock Central. This does not keep them from playing the game, only from playing a full

Hollow Man, don't you think he would make an exception in this case? He has been ranting about just this kind of thing recently.

Babamilo, CanOpener was suggesting you reinstall everything and start from scratch, not just the game. While no game its perfect and all will still have minor bugs, Stardock has always been quick to patch the ones it can. As far as getting patches from Stardock for GC2 and it's expansions, I am sure Stardock will continue as they always have in the past. I doubt work on GC2 will be completely put aside until GC3 is released. Since, you are alone in many of your problems that says to eve

I said it once and I will say it again. If it is active DRM that makes changes to your hardware or requires the an internet connection to play the game, you should not buy anything from that company! Buying their products is telling them that their over the top and abusive treatment of their customers is OK and that you agree their entire consumer base is a bunch of thieves. We all have 3 options when it comes to companies that employ drastic DRM measures. 1. Buy the ga

Babamilo, are you retarded or just stupid? Personal computers, meaning "home" computers are only designed to do one major task at a time. This is how your CPU or Processor works. It can only "process" so many commands at a time. When it is trying to do too much at once it will hang and crash. While you may be able to play simple games like mine sweeper while watching a DVD, even high end PCs will not be stable if you are trying to play a DVD, run a defrag, and play a quality game. Also, in my ex

Personally, I don't pirate and I think it is wrong to do so. But I think it is even worse to treat all of your customers like they are criminals. I can understand and even tolerate passive copy protection. I don't like it, but I do understand. Active copyright protection such as this and a few others that actually destroy your system are a step too far. I don't care how good a game is, if it has active protection I will just refuse to buy anything from that company EVER. People that buy

Personally I completely agree with Brad. I also find it easier to respect him as a person because he is willing to speak his mind and stick to his guns. Consumers in this country have really been pushing the customer is always right bit way too far. The reality is most people are idiots and sheep. Individuals may be smart, but people in general are dumb as rocks. As far as being sheep you can see this behavior all the time everywhere you look. I have no problem paying for products if I

I believe if you do a job, regardless of the type of job you should be paid for your work. While I do understand the need and desire to ensure you are paid for your labor, I do not believe that is the way many companies use DRM. It is one thing to make an effort to receive payment for work performed. It is quite another to limit fair use to the point of near uselessness of the product. By law I have the right to make 1 copy of anything as long as I own the original. The DMCA conflicts w

I understand the reasons Stardock and other game developers write for Windows. However, if more game developers were to write games that can be played on Linux (not so much written specifically for Linux but with porting to other platforms in mind), you would find significant numbers of users leaving Windows entirely for Mac and Linux. Also the there is the added bonus of increased sales. You would be amazed at how many people there are that use Mac or Linux exclusively and won't touch anything

I would like to say as the person who initiated this thread that this conversation really does not belong here. Not to sound insensitive, but we all have our own problems and no one wants to come here and read someone elses constant rantings about how much their life sucks. Conquest you have problems, OK I can live with that. But I can't live with it constantly being used as an excuse and a crutch. You do remember Psycho don't you? Well you have in the past month been just as irr
