Darth Kyro is correct. This is how it works in my games.

If you're pre-scouting the planets, you're not really beating the AI are you? I mean, THEY still have to go out and scout. That's a pretty big advantage. To me, beating the AI would involve not having to reload a game at all. I realise you were responding to ender here, but I am able to use the strategy I outlined
One thign I got from this thread, aside for little finess in ym strategy, is the knowledge I am a genius at 4x games. I ahve already deduced all these strategies after few games. I'm glad to see other people take note of this, makes me all the more confident. Handome, talented and modest <im
Ender, I have only tested my strategy on small and tiny, so I know for certain it works on those sizes. There are more planets on medium and up, which means that the AI will get more. This may make it too strong. Also, after a certain point you must stop producing colony ships in order to build up your infrastructure and research. On incredible, the AI will build a very strong military very quickly, even with very few planet
Game settings: Tiny map, otherwise default. 1 opponent, set to incredible. Relations are set to 'at war' and will not change, i.e. I refuse any peace offers. It is far too easy to exploit the AI otherwise. Custom Race: +30 economy, +50 military production, 1 point left over, I tend to pick luck. Political party Federalists for a total of +50 economy. Techs: Hyperdrive, New prop techniques, ion drive, xeno engineering, xeno research. <br
I'm afraid to say that in my duel vs an incredible level AI last night, I invaded a class 11 planet, which the AI had held since near the start, to find it only had 7 improvements built. Unfortunately I did not take a screenshot, but I will certainly keep an eye out for this in future.
Social bonus is fixed as of 1.0X PQ bonus does not work correctly - it will only affect your homeworld and not any subsequent colonies Research bonus operates in a very odd way that ends up with it being half as effective as advertised. E.g. +50 research becomes +25 Pop growth is useless because of the way the current system works. You'll hit the cap on growth very easily without bonuses. As far as I c
I do not use extra speed or rush buying of ships. I will post the basic strategy here, it will also be included in my report which I will make a separate thread for. Game settings : Tiny map, otherwise default. 1 opponent, set to incredible. Relations are set to 'at war' and will not change, i.e. I refuse any peace offers. Let me just reiterate how absolutely crucial rapid expansion is. I have got it down to a fine art, to the point where I can crush the AI even on incredible (note: only tried duel on tiny maps). The AI cannot cope with a properly exectuted colony rush, at all. I am writing up a report of a game I played last night and I will post it (with plenty of screenshots) to demonstrate the power of XREX (extremely rapid expansion)
1) The cultural border is the border displayed on the map. Influence starbases only affect the area covered by the starbase coloured radius that appears when you click on them. 2) You can delete rally points from another screen. Unfortunately I'm at work at the moment and can't remember exactly where it is located. 3) You cannot spend credits on counter-spying. Propoganda is not in GalCiv 2. 4) Check out the Galacticope
I've recently become able to beat a gifted level AI. I've only done so on tiny galaxy, normal settings, custom civ, enemy race set to 'at war' at the start. I remain at war with the enemy throughout the whole game, refusing any offers of peace. I'm quite sure various beta testers are able to do this easily but I was just wondering how many of the people who are new to the game (like me - I didn't play GalCiv either) are able to do this.
I beat this mission on the first try. First off I speed-built colony ships and took all but 2 (one went to altarians and one to the yor) of the free worlds at the beginning. I then sent 5 first generation attack ships to the world closest the DL planet. I was able to take out their fighters with some difficulty, and zap their undefended troop transports. The key is making sure you are the attacker and getting the first shot in. The DL
