I tried the Dom3 demo, and I didn't really care for it. I may give it another chance, sometime. Am I the only one playing Fantasy Wars? I just picked it up last week, and it's fantastic, IMO. It borrows heavily from Fantasy General, a game which I know by reputation only. It's turn-based, tactical combat on a hex map with a high-fantasy theme. If you like turn-based games, you should really, really check out the demo.

Quite a list! Thanks again for the incredible post-release support! Ditto!
LoL, I just started reading the Ugo review, and I really like this guys style of writing. "If you at all like strategy games, you should at least check it out. If you like turn-based strategy games, it's the current cream of the crop, so you have to play it. And if you're already a Galactic Civilizations II fan, and you don't play Dark Avatar, I will come to your house and fight you. That's no lie." Hahaha!
Gratz, guys. You deserve it!
Well deserved, IMO. I'm very happy with the expansion. The tweaks to gameplay all seem to work well, and the updated graphics and expanded options are all great.
I've got an auto save from the turn before. When I press the turn button, it never comes back.
For the record, Starfleet Battles is awesome. This is good info. I don't know why I never thought of making a specific defender ship with the techniques you're sharing here. I usually just put one of whatever ship I'm currently using in my fleets in orbit, but it does seem a much better idea to design something cheaper and perhaps even more effective for the role. I'll give it a go in my next game.
Yes, it's a shameless plug but it's also in the off-topic sub-forum. You know, the place you go to talk about stuff that isn't related to GC2. Yep, that's why it's in off-topic. It's not like I don't play and enjoy this game. I put this post where it belongs. If you have a point you'd like to make, Mumblefratz, go for it. There's no need to
Yes, it's part of the plan. The central banks of Europe are working with the Federal Reserve to move us towards a one world government.
I strongly urge anyone who cares about this country to watch this movie. Unlike Michael Moore's partisan and politically motivated movies, Aaron Russo is able to look at the very serious issues facing our nation with objectivity, as a concerned citizen. From IMDb: "A documentary that explores the connection between income tax collection and the erosion of civil liberties in America." The conclusion will leave the uninitiated gasping for breathe, as Mr. Russo connects the dots
When you turn military spending to 0%, you're not spending your unused social income on military building. It's not false income. Why your income went negative after that, I don't know. It's possible that you started building a project on a planet(s) that previously had no social building going on, causing your social production expense to increase, or, if you had the booming economy event, it could have ended. Trade income also flucuates wildly sometimes, which can throw you back and forth betw
My update failed the first time, but it went fine when I tried a little later. I'd guess that the validation server is overworked or screwy.
I hate it. I wish it was optional.
The combat change is great news. The AI will be far more challenging for me. It's too easy to dominate an equally matched opponent by striking first every time.
If you install Coolbits 3D, you can set the fan to "always on".
Yes, as long as you are attacking first with enough firepower in 1.1, your ships don't need any defense. This approach seems signifigantly more balanced, making the appropriate defense much more important and the role of attacker much less signifigant. It wouldn't make HP less usefull. It will make small ships more usefull, to a small degree, but they'll still be far easier to destroy than their larger counter-parts.
Yeah, I don't mind the option to retreat after each volley, it adds some new tactics. But it seems unnecessary to go all the way back to the main map when there could be a button within the combat viewer to continue combat (if you're the attacker). Edit: If both sides having surviviors is unintentional, then my point is moot, anyway.
Yeah, I'm confused, too. Does it end in one round or does it still play out until one side is destroyed? I understand allowing defenders to fire, even if they'll be destroyed during that round. Attacking gave a huge advantage before, and that should even it out quite a bit. I just don't want to be dropped back to the main map and re-initiate a battle after every round.
I'd be happy if ships could carry multiple constructor modules. As for getting constructors where you need them, rally points have always done the trick for me.
Wow, that's going to really change combat. It ends after 1 round? Is there a plan to allow for attacking without exiting the combat viewer? Having to go from the combat viewer to the main map after every volley would get old pretty fast.
Check the "Memory Fragments" sticky, and see if any of that applies to you. Link Your sound drivers are from 2002.
I've actually had a couple CTDs tonight from the memory issues, the first CTD I've had since one of the betas. I've got a gig, so it took a few hours, a ridiculous number of ships, eyes of the universe, and seeing all of a large galaxy at once. I'm glad it's getting handled.
Yeah, the "goto next ship" thing is frustrating. Just because a ship is out of moves, doesn't mean I'm ready to jump to the next ship half-way across the galaxy. If it were a button, instead of something automatic, I'd be much, much happier.
I like Large and Huge maps, stars occasional, planets common, habitable planets occasional. I like my games to last a while. Once in a while I'll play a Gigantic map.
Your sound drivers are from 2003, too.
