Is there a way to change the sensor range (editing the XML) so it wont be capped at 15?

hi, was wondering if I could mod the xml so that I can start with a higher class planet for my custom race? Would like to play a game where 1 planet is enough to sustain myself. If it can be done, can somebody teach me how to do it. Thanks in advance.
