I built a partially upgraded Military Starbase near my home planet, which was coincidentally right next to the Korx home planet. (Like, half a sector away.) I then built some squads of Medium ships with lasers and went to attack the Korx; but they weren't getting correct defense bonuses from the Military Starbase.
