Things "isn't" scale because people like to see their ships, and see more than one system on the screen at once... You don't want things to be true scale...
I was just surfin' around today and noticed that CNET made GalCiv2 one of their top five must have PC games... they're normally pretty much well on.. ... oh yeah, and I frickin' love this game!!
Alright, I'll have to get another minor off'd...
I've downloaded, deleted, redownloaded, etc., etc. but it hasn't helped
Yeah, Tech Victory is actually pretty easy, I had one in a game that only took 5 or 6 years and I wasn't even trying for it until the end...
Except in English: Guerilla: Insurgent Gorilla: Hairier than the aforementioned..
Bumpity-Bump-Bump
This is not in anyway a big deal , but makes me wonder a bit: (Running v1.11) Whenever a major race finishes off a minor race the game slows way down for a minute, then shows the screen that says "The Somebodies have finally succumbed to the..." The only problem being that instead of showing a picture (heck, maybe it's even a vid) it just shows a blue screen in the window. Now I don't have the issue any other place. I thought the file was just corrupt the firs
I think I'm tending to steer the opposite way compared to everybody else on this one... I think the tax cap is goofy, but the miniturization cap makes perfect sense: (a) If you created an essentially pure communist or hive society (Thalans) the main goal of your society would be to better the society. In such a place there would be no need for personal income. Therefore 100% taxes would be a well functioning commune. (b) Matter is matter, you can only shrink th
I just played a huge galaxy game on v1.11 and there were 3 or 4 minors, so at least I'm not havin' that problem...
Ok, I admittedly just skimmed through this thread, but espionage is key , spend 15-25 pts per week on neccessary races as soon as you can afford it, soon enough you'll know what the enemy is doing before they do...
I hate to say this, because I normally wouldn't care.... but since you're needlessly (and incorrectly) ripping on the designers: (a) Maybe you just suck at this game (b) Maybe you need to play at lower levels until you get better (c) Maybe you should have your mommy buy you a new, easier game p.s. - I don't claim to be all that good at this game, but my colony ships almost always move faster than the other civs'
I posted a Tech. Victory either saturday or sunday, it actually didn't go through the first time. I had to resubmit it, but it worked fine the second time.
Nicely Done...
I've had some issues with Firefox... It doesn't like to function well with this website (I dunno why). But if I'm using the Metaverse I'll just use IE quick... I really doubt it's your network, whenever I attempt to use Firefox on the Meta it'll just show the loading screen forever, as much as I hate to say it, use IE (or just some other browser). The transfer will happen almost instantly if you do.. hope that helps...
I normally just invade with minisoldiers when things are still meaningful... However, if I'm mopping up a civ and I don't need the planets to get rid of my other enemies I'll just use Tidal Devastation and wipe out the planet. Then I don't need to keep anything there but some population... and the bonus is that I'm not spending much on the planet income, so I'm making money from taxes. Plus, since the planet is trashed I really don't hav

My point about making it slow would be because of balance issues, if you made something that powerful even reasonably fast it would probably be too strong... although I really don't know how fast it should be, I'm just trying to emphasize that movement speed would need to be capped rather low... and I'm not suggesting this is better than terror stars or carriers or anything, I just thought it was an interesting idea...
Ok, so here's an idea that just occured to me.... There have been a lot of people asking about having carriers to transport fighters across vast distances There's also been a lot of discussion about traveling starbases Now I realize that carriers would probably severely change the game, as would moving starbases. So what occured to me is why not have a little mix of the two.. How about a type of military starbase that
As opposed to killing off the entire tax paying population through ground battles.... It would actually be a lot more humane because it would allow people to surrender and live, even if under a different ruler...
Another problem I've noticed with this that when ships gain hit points after battles they update the numbers fine... but when you see the ship picture during battle I get rather annoyed by the fact that the damage indicator doesn't take these increased hitpoints into effect. ala when you have a ship with 26 hp and it takes 13 damage during a battle you see half of the icon covered in red... but later on, when the ship has say 76 hp, the i
Re-education centers prevent that planet from revolting, but I'm pretty sure that each civ can only have one...
You need to be rated as "Close" with the other race... then as long as you've both researched alliances on the tech tree, you can go to the screen where you can trade with other races and it'll be one of the options. Although it may cost you something (just like any trade) to get them to ally with you...
