I have noticed this trend as well. And it sucks because I like being "in the loop" on whats hot and whats not, but I get burned by a lot of bad games costing me $$$ they did not deserve... I have noticed myself get a lot more concious about what games I purchase, I am also starting to get a feel for if a game is going to be good or if its just hyped up good too. Things to look for are track record of the company, how much comunication they have with the fan base, state of betas, how long betas a

Heh tourism is veeery good. I will also say its too good lol. So easy to get profit!
Is there production overflow now in arnor beta?
Is this still the case with arnor beta?
Thanks for the information!
I also agree a overview of the different races techs would be nice. There is too much hidden information in this game on such a high level that it should have been shown. (With that i mean you dont have to give off every hidden game mechanism but stuff that should obviously not be hidden information.) For example I totaly HATE the fact that its not shown exactly how manny production it costs for each building, and that it doesnt show you how much you have allready produced for each planet. T
[quote] In the maximized view of the tech tree screen, you can right-click individual techs to get all of the data that you would normally see in the smaller view. This has been in the game since at least Dreadlords, though it isn't the most publicized of features. Um... actually, no. You don't get all the data with a right-click on the full tree. In my current DA game, I'm at the point of researching Planetary Invasion. The two views aren't
Where is the poll? in any case I vote january.
Not that I have played galciv in a very long while so I dont really have a clue atm but, whats wrong with you people? If someone wants to go above 20000bc's why dont you want them to get that kind of enjoyment out of the game? 20000bc's seems to be a very low limit for huge maps etc.
Showing how much building and techs costs in "hammers" during production que. Overflow of hammers from previous projects as to not cause unneeded micromanagment. More transparency of hammer stuff..like if you upgrade a planetary improvement does it give you a hammer discount etc. This stuff should be shown not having to figure it out myself. (WORK not fun.)
Well done jpinard looking forward for more Now get some sleep (and wake up refreshed so we can get more of the guide!)
I dont know if this truly is a bug but its very annoying: When you finish a soil enhancement it will not give you a warning if that was your last construction, so in many games when ive built a soil enhancment i forget about the planet if I dont check all my planets every turn. And it will stand there idle not building any social projects.
Two more finds: Planetary quality doesnt seem to change when you build soil enhancements. So maybe this value in xml files isnt counted either? Also it seems no production from your last buildings are carried over so you should micro manage production the last turn before a building finishes not to waist BC's. This is ofcourse a micromanagers heaven/hell depending on how you see it.
Interesting! Why are they in the xml file then? Perhaps something that wasnt included ? Edit: Ive updated the chart to reflect these changes now. Thanks guys
Oh and this is for dark avatar. 059
And imho all of these kings of under the hood information should be available, what makes a game great is not hiding information but making sure tactic X isnt good in every situation Y. (Basically the principle of Rock/Paper/Siscor) This goes for everything, like tech cost, great projects costs etc. Edit: Updated the chart a bit: Soil enhancement ofcourse requires the Soil Enhancement tech.
No i didnt use Galactopedia because it keeps crashing when trying to read dark alliance, but its a great program and I can see a lot of effort went into it! I simply just opened the xml file and read through it. (PlanetImprovements.xml) The code is very easy forward and intutive to understand.
In a new game when I move into my planet with a ship and relaunch it it has full movement points, is this as intended or a bug? Also Basic factory description reads up to 8 manifacture points while the basic factory effect is up to 4 Manufacture points ? (Or does it get 4 for millitary and 4 for social?)
Hey to make sure im correct ive rechecked the datafiles, remember this is for Dark Avatar the expansion: "I thought Habitat was 40?" According to the latest datafile the cost is stated at 30. "there's only 3 farm techs" - Are you sure ? Is this true for Dark Avatar too? The code snippet for the latest farm improvement "Ultra farming" requires Xeno Farm Construction V according to the latest patch. Indicating there are 5 farm techs. Anyways thanks for trying to
I was a bit tired when I recently made this, please post if there are any errors (I will update myself if i find some) Main building Chart:
Why are employment still there in Dark Avatar? do they have a meaning now?
Hey in my game every time i got to the ship list and select a ship, then if i move the ship the game will crash to desktop. (either with auto move or with numpad moving) And this happens every time i load my savegame.
Yes it did. Awesome. Quick fix and great support!
Ok thanks for the fast responce and figuring out this so quickly. (Im impressed.) In the meantime I will just start the game directly from the exe file and enjoy
