Also noticed that when the machine dies, what was last playing in audio continues to play, but interspersed with gaps of quiet. It will do this indefinitely until I hard reboot.

The game consistently crashes under 64-bit XP. This is at multiple resolutions, and does not occur at any particular screen in the game. Also, this is a complete system crash, not just a game crash. I run many other 3D accelerated games with no problems (Doom 3, Vanguard Beta, Homeworld (1, 2, Cataclysm), Serious Sam)
