I have seen more than 4 in a sector, but they belonged to different races. So I'm curious as to if it's really 4 starbases per sector belonging to 1 civ? This was 1.1beta2 btw.

Click on the starbase and you should see a circle of effect (in the color of your race- blue default for humans.) This is the area the base effects. Any planets, trade routes in that circle of effect benefit from the base, depending on the modules you have on the base. For instance, you have four economy bases that have Earth in the area of effect, then Earth benefits from whatever bonuses that base has that are applicable to planets. So, if you max out the Social/Military/Resear
It is curious as to why those things are not in the normal game... I've only seen them when I had a working version of Kryo's mod installed. But even now, the items are missing.
To be clear, I had made peace with the Torians when this happened. Adgral, using your example where the Iconians where the British, Torians are Germans, and I was the US... then t would be like British surrendering themselves to a neutral country... say Switzerland (debates aside on that topic.) There's a nice thought...
The Galactic achievement "Privateer" solidifies your trade routes so they cannot be attacked, and war doesn't seem to disrupt them. Well, let me qualify that, it DOES effect trade routes that are now going to your advesary.
Without creating a new 3D model and putting it into the game, there's no way to "clone" it with the given jewelry. Using Kryo's hulls mod, I have gotten close to several Trek designs I wished to emulate. The Torian have a lot of curvy pieces that can be used o achieve that look. But as it stands right now with the limitations of the designer , bugs with the hardpoints, and the learning curve with howit all works, expect to put in a
Oops... forums appear to be on the bottle today... sorry for the multi-post! If a moderator could delete the two clone posts above, that'd be great. I've tried many times and keep getting a yellow ERROR page everytime I click on EDIT. Again- sorry!
Indeed, now that game is OUT, perhaps they can take the necessary time and planning to do those things they couldn't quite get into the game for various reasons. I LOVE the idea of more space "landscape." I think it would be great to be able to mine an asteroid field, lay claim to a STABLE wormhole, use nebulas as a permanent sensory dead zone. And while it would suck, I'd LOVE for the chance that a star could supernova! It could lead to a

Ah yes, I think you have a point on the amount of planets left. In my game, when the Altarians surrendered to the Torian, they handed over 15ish planets... that's a lot of friggin' worlds!!! When the Iconians went to the Yor they had easily a dozen planets. And I tried going the influence route, but at this point in the game, where all the Civs are rocking across the board, it is VERY tough to convince the people of your opponent
My best gem of a planet had 1 700% Manufacturing, 1 100% manufacturing, 2 100% happiness squares, 1 100% influence square !!! It was an 18 to start. It was the gem of my empire! The wierdest event was an economic boom that lasted 1 TURN. I got the message at the start of a turn, did my moves, hit TUrn and got the "it has ended" message... It was a bit of a boggle.
It's not random. They will tend to go with the strongest player, failing that they will tend to go with who is beating them into submission and failing that they'll surrender to a friend. But there are other factors too, moral alignment, position, etc. All magnify these odds. Frogboy, do you think that perhaps it can be
There is another relation level called "Close" and once that is achieved with another empire, the option to "trade" Alliance Treaty is available.
Ok, this is more of a disappointment in the AI and thusly a gripe more than anything. Many on here have reported similar behaviour, but I thought I add another log to the fire. So was playing a custom race on a gigantic galaxy in challenging mode. I started in a corner but had plenty of colonies to play with. I raced up the tech trees and maintained a tech lead the entire duration of the game. My nearest contact was a full 7 sectors away i
Sonofa! So Kryo, hate to say it, but I think the 3-06-06 patch killed your mod again. Funny thing though... when I patched, I could finish my current game with yu hull mod no problem. But once I started a new game, your mod seemed to be "gone." Very strange. Anyways, love the mod, love making ships even more with it... hope you keep it updated!
I guess for me, the initial land grab only makes me want to use the ship builder immediately before i press TURN for the first time!I redesign th colony ships to be faster, much faster. This typically I can only build so many, but they have more manuevering ability when it comes to seeking out that planet gem. I will say, I haven't played the humans since my first game simply because I cannot stand NOT knowing where the frigging planets are.
Yeah, this bug is annoying, but can be worked around. Just click on the component, click remove, then click on some OTHER component in the left menu side. This will remove the component and bypass the bug. It means you have to make an extra mouse click for every deletion. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
It seems the patch broke this puppy! I hope you continue to work on it Kryo, cause I know there are plenty here loving it!
Well, you COULD build a ship that has a standard hull (thus a HP factor) and equip it WITH cargo module. Thus, you have a standard run-n-gun cargo network, able to ward off weaker foes.
It's generally not so bad on a Huge or Gigantic map, unless you start off near a major race. I've been on map where I was the only one around with plenty of habitable planets. I took my time, and it was cool because it gave me something to do while building starbases and such. If they introduced a "max colony" factor that accounted for tech/income/etc., it could be interesting... but I can see a lot more people complaining about that, a
DOn't forget the obvious bait&switch method. Have your heavy production planets build transports. Beef up your mega planets for high-population. Launch the transports and move the "volume" slider to 1. Send the skeleton crew transports to Populace Planet. Relaunch, fill em up! I'm familiar with the grind you speak of, and this seemed to help cut that in half. I had enough production planets to have a few crank o
Anyone have the mIRC info to chat with the galciv2 team? I have it fine at home, but I can't find the info on the site now that I'm at work!
Hi everyone, I'm trying to get the patch and CE stuff to download from the site, so I can install them and enjoy the game on my work box. For some reason, I keep getting a "page not found" thing when I click on the green download button. Nothing at my work is blocked, so I'm curious to know if anyone else is having issue with this, or there is something happening maybe I'm not aware of? Thanks -CH-
Yeah, the Ally underhanded tactic of influence bombs IS a bit annoying, and I do hope Sdock looks into altering this behavior. To me, it seems MUCH more appropriate for them to build econ bases, because chances are since they are your ally, you have a nice trade setup with them. If you can't build hapiness/morale things on the planet, you are left with little choice: destroy them. As suggested, do it yourself, or pay someone off to do it for you. Also you CAN offer to b
