Story line. The Korx are doomed as am I for trying this campaign. Supposedly I am to escort Yux Ulnar to sector 1,3 to complete this mission. I am to follow his instruction to get there undetected. No chance of that happening. There are no instructions. Why does this not surprise me. I've been all over this map. I have no idea what is meant by sector 1,3 because everytime I've tried to apply logic it just does not work. No victory conditio

As I understand this system the factories, social, and research facilities production is adjusted from a total basket measured in bc's. In essence instead of your factories turning out new buildings and/or ships it's production can be converted to research and vice versa. Hence, if you need to crunch through some research divert a larger portion of this combined basket to research. The overall all effect on bc's shows up indirectly as a consequence of where on the slider the
It did occur to me why this might be deliberate, gameplay balance. Since this is a single player game and the AI players do not make use of the shipyard, it could be a means of limiting the advantage the human player could have over the AI. If my AI opponent has beam weapons and shields I could build ships that are fast with shields and driver weapons. Limitimg how much stuff I can have on my custom ships blunts any advantage I might gain from this. Just a
Well thanks aftermono. I hadn't considered this strike fast tactic. I think the DL ships are a lot like our own only more deadly and shielded. If you look at them in the game it shows attack value and defense values. They are higher for the DL ships. I think the strike fast option works because they won't have time to scout you then build the troop transports and invade. I finally got through this one by employing an all defensive strategy for mysel
Thanks Loupdinour! The log jam finally broke free. I had made a save game just prior to my reply #4 and when I returned to it I just clicked through a couple of more weeks and finally relationship changed from friendly to close! I was sweating my Nuetral alignment but, it finally didn't matter. I guess the "Good" Iconian finally stopped holding it against me. lol [e digicons][/e] After that I could offer the alliance treaty and that was that. Now w
Ok, here's what I accomplished. I reviewed my areas on the map and kept just 5 planets that were nearest to the starting point. It nailed me but, I had a stock pile of BCs by this point and said what the heck try something. And, it worked to a point. I went from 2 single positives with 4 single negatives to: ++ Our Treaties ++ Our Military Strength ++ Trading
Thanks for the link. I'm not sure if I'm understanding this right but, I may be in a fix on this campaign. I chose Neutral for my alignment and I'm thinking the Iconians are Good. I have a negative for alignment. I have a negative for militaristic. I've been invading and gifting planets over to the ungrateful Iconian. A negative on too close on the borders. Of course the dumb cluck colonized a level 4 planet in the middle of my turf and it keeps going
1) It isn't really a bug. You can design some ship's say at the beginning level, middle level, and it's stompin time level. Then work on researching the needed Techs in the game to actually build and deploy your custom ships. Once you save a custom ship design, it's always available to you. You just can't build it and deploy it until you have all the Techs. This implementation IMO is very helpful because you can learn what's available for your ships and what so
Rock & Hard Place is the mission to acquire the third shard. It requires establishing an ally relation with the Iconians. I've worked hard on this one making sure my abilities were right mainly Diplomacy, Trade and Espionage and, I have made good progess, until recently, it's seems stuck. I've reviewed the Victory screen and it's been at 87% for some time. I've built my relations with the Iconians from the initial cool up to friendly. It's been expens
The game has a pretty good basic Tutorial including some strategy ideas. Also, playing the Campaign will guide you through different aspects of the game and require you to employ different strategies to achieve success. I've got GCII plus both expansions. I enjoy them. Highly recommended and I would recommend the full bundle because Twilight of the Arnor is awesome. A real addition to GCII not just a minor add-on.
Again, this game is about the sandbox. The campaigns are just... well.. there.
Ya, I know what you're saying. I get something into my mind and then I want to see it through. I have a lot of games I play as a sand box style of play. I may do that more with GCII. But, unlike other games where I more easily left the Campaign, for some reason with GCII I wanted to play it out. There are some really good scenarios in Dread
I finally found a way to get through that horrible campaign but, it was senseless. I had to set difficulty down to lowest setting. I stayed on the one planet I started with and colonized nowhere. All attempts to colonize anywhere met with disaster. I built up planetary defenses and pressed the turn key. How fun. Some startegy.
For the longest time I just would not play GCII at all. And, this Dread Lord Campaign is the reason for it. I've tried everything I can think of and yet, the only possible outcome is the Dread Lords relentless invasions of my outposts and absolutely always being unable to have an equal footing with any of the AI players. How do you go into this horrible campaign with the editors provided in the expansions to just fix this sort of problem. I honestly do not believe ther
