.DESKTOP files in New Users WinCustomize Forums

This question will probably require me to reclassify myself as a beginner, but I've exhausted all efforts this mind can stand. I've just bought a new Dell 5100 Media Center Desktop with Windows Media Center edition. I've downloaded two Desktop theme files, but can't open either one to apply to my desktop. I notice once unzipped they are both .DESKTOP files. My question is what application do I use to open them? I have PowerToys and any other related pa
