Basically: No. Two 1.8GHz are probably slower than a 3.0GHz There might be a few exceptions. For example a program that does some heavy calculations which can run parallel it might come close there or even reach the theoretical 200% (3,6GHz). (I'm talking scientifical calculation stuff here.) Although I might be totally wrong and games became excellent dual core supporting applications over the last few years. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif" bor

Interesting. Usually Sensors 4 is one of the first things I do to get Eyes of the Universe. I had some unpleasent suprises coming at me out of sensor range. I need to be faster and see farther than my enemies to successfully outmeauver them. I tend to focuse my forces rather then splitting them...
Oh my god. A 2nd person who knows VGA Planets... I'm not that geeky after all I guess
Yeah a search function like that. So far it never worked for me. Aaaand make that "watch" button actually do something. I always get a timeout when pressing it. Aaaaand the button "my topics" would be nice if it shows threads with my posts inside as well...
A decade ago (roughly), PC strategy games were having their golden age. Master of Orion, Civilization, Master of Magic, Stars, VGA Planets, etc. And these games required the player to think. OMG. You guys know VGA Planets. It was the greatest game I ever played during that time. I spent hours program
On the Starbase Threat issue: Maybe you can define the threat of a military starbase based on the gains the affected fleets would gain. Say: the starbase gives +1 Beam Attack If there are 20 ships in the are I'm more likely interested in hunting down those starbases first. Only 5 ships means maybe less interest in Starbase killing, since the benefit is smaller. I guess you probably do that in the calculations but I'
My favourite strategie to counter bigger fleets of my opponents is to go to defense. Consider a defense of 5 vs a fleet of 2 opposing ships and vs a fleet of 4 opposing ships. The larger the number of your opponents the more effective the defense gets. I like that
That are the reasons why I play as a populist (+20 morale +20 diplomacy) and as addition skill +30 economy and +20% morale or something like that.... I can't imagine playing anything different
like the others said. it's basically the video. i don't care if the interface is a bit stretched or not, which I think isn't but the video would be nice. I agree that it MIGHT look strange if their are letter boxes on the sides during the event screens etc. but I prefer letter boxes over stretched images any day... @Moiiska: Im running 1920x1280 on 17" and I don't really have that much trouble reading it. maybe you should try a big
I'm in *Bump* mood today...
I'm in *Bump* mood today...
So I am using a nice 17" wide screen laptop here. So far so good, but what really annoys me are the videos. Video stretched to the full size are bad. i don't like their look. Please add an option to keep the aspect ratio when playing a video. Pleeeeaaaseeeee..... I have to bump this until someone bans me or a red response is here...
what will be interesting is the weapons aspect... give galactica universe lots of mass drivers and rocket technology but only VERY limited access to shields stargate could be a mixture.... earth still uses rockets and mass drivers (rail guns) but already got a few decent shields from their allies.... well the rest are just plain beam weapons? dunno.... but looooot's of potential there... like that idea! for ba
So after beeing into the F6 menu to look at my colony statistics i.E. I will always be sent to this screen again after I had a completed building. That's a bit annoying I think. Reload helps problem.
but remember. on bigger hulls the components take more space. while an engine might need 6 space on a tiny ship it might need 10 on a huge ship.
Perhaps like in MOO2, there could be a chairman of the council who gets certain benefits (better espionage, more info on other races) as well as the ability to suggest a topic more often. uhm we might play a different game here but in MOO2 there were only 3 possible results after a vote: -no one
Today I had a draw at a ground combat. Both sides ended up with 0:0 troops. The system tells me I lost the battle. The system then told me (because of me using Gas Warfare) that quality on >>>my But it still wasn't my planet. The next transport couldn't land troops because the System thought it's my planet. Which it still wasn't The next transporter then worked and I finally got the planet.
Okay I written a small parser for processing of the "GC2Types.xml". Now while browsing through the weapons I came up with some questions: Weapon.Type: what is that? what is it used for? Weapon.SizeMod: same question. I guess it has to do with the size of the weapon after some more tech discovery. Is it the amount by which the number is reduced? Or the lowest value? Any help is appreciated <img src="smiles/Congrats.gif"
Today I finally got my European Collectors Edition Limited Tin Box. I already made some pictures. But since the installation is almoast complete I won't have time to upload them in the next few years Will upload them soon. Box looks great IMHO. <img src="http://static.flickr.com/
