I remember playing multiplayer on MOO3. It was a nightmare. Its difficult to do multiplayer on a turn base game. A Galciv II multiplayer expansion may have to include some real time action.

I just posted my 4th game. I was ranked at 1404 and my total score was 17790. I noticed the people in my general area of my ranking have a score of only about 8685. What kind of wierdness in the Metaverse would cause this?
I was on the tail end of a painful gigantic month long conquest victory that I knew would raise my metaverse standing, but I made the fatal mistake of upgrading to the lasted beta version. I was unable to complete to conquest victory because of the “out of memory” bug that ground the game to a halt. So I loaded a few turns back just to get a diplomatic victory but was denied that because my metaverse game now thought it was modded. Sure enough my mod box was somehow now checked. I'll never a
I recently won a cultural victory at tough level even thought the Terran seem to have better ships then me. I need to settle on what percent shields, weapons and engines is optimal for a balanced yet powerful battle ship. Next game I'm looking at about 25% shields, 25% engines and 40% weapons. Any ideas on whats a good balance.
Next time I'll let the AI tangle with the Pirate Fleet. Nice suggestion. The Acean in my current game have started responding to my massive missiles ships by deploying point defense on their ships. My confidence in the AI is restored. After numerous engagements I get the feel that force fields not only protect a ship from beams, but will also decrease the damage from missiles. The manual does not state this, but it looks like there is an overlap of protection with shields and/or force f
I had this happen on my current game. About 3 or 4 solar systems in the Terran area all went to PQ 13. I started building colony ships like crazy and colonized all but about 3 of the new planets. The AI was very slow to take advanage of the new planets even though playing on Tough. This event can make a game a little more interresting and will probably enable me beat the Terran via culture victory. Does anybody know if your final score for Metaverse is affected by how much time you take
Thanks for the advise. I will try Tough next time and watch the titles of my posts. I love playing this game and think its the best 4x to come out since MOO2.
I've set the "Difficulty" level to challanging which is one level above NORMAL. I'm playing Altarians and the Torians and Arceans have been relentless in making war on me. I have not used diplomacy to make allies. Is it better to set the Intelligence level rather than over ride the AI with the "difficuly' level? I'm expecting an opponet that will react to my ship building strategy. But your right there is more to this game than ship building and they may be pursuing other strategies that wi
I've been playing Altarian on challenging and the AI seems like its locked in a box. All three empires that are attacking me just deploy mass driver type weapons and I've traded and researched for some killer armor protection. I'm cutting through them with Plasma and Harpoons and they are very slow to come up with a shield defense or ECM. They are ganging up on me because they think I'm too aggressive but they are bleeding more then me because of their dumb ship building strategy. Does th
YES, the rally point options in the Governors tab are great for automating ship logistical movements and lets you focus on other things. In my current game, set on challenging, I'm slowly wiping out the Drengin but they are building some really mean ships. It still early in the game and I have harpoons, but these guy are somehow placing 12 missiles on their ships and kicking my butt if I don't overwhelm them with numbers. My stronger economy will win out, but what are they doing?
Never mind, I found the answer or shall I say rally set button. Now everything is COOL .
If your system is unstable just when you run galciv2 "demo" version I would suspect that its the naturn of demo versions that your coming up aganst. Your probably not running the most current patch. My video card is the 5700 Ultra which is about two years old and it runs great. If you like it buy the game.
The support is great compared to what happened to MOO3. After playing GalCiv2 I've been wanting to fire up M003 just to see how it feels compared to GalCiv2.
I've been playing with no rally points for ships and I can't take it anymore. Is the rally point software broke? I press T for the rally point list but there seems to be no way to create one. I hve read through the manual several times and see no mention of how to set up rally points. I need someone to walk me through this, I must be as thick as a brick. Thanks
