Great Post... I'm surprised you left out games like TA from your history lesson, as I feel this game also helped to redefine the RTS category The fact that you remember all those games (especially Herzog Zwei) is amazing. Great Post.

Thanks....
Let us hope that it doesn't flop. God knows I would love a spiritual succesor to TA. Lord knows we need a game like that.
I wouldn't mind seeing space monsters making a comeback either.
Where does one fine this balance mod? Does anyone know when the next pacth is coming out? Thanks for the 411.
Has anyone played the game since the 1.20patch? Did it correct any of the stability problems? I have tried the tutorial and printed the 300 page manual out from work. The game seems quite good. But I would hate to waste the time and effort if its going to crash and burn. Thanks for any input and/or info
What does everyone think of this up coming title. Looks a lot like GalCivII, just with more updated graphics. Plagarism?
Already pre-ordered... For all the work and support to Stardock puts into their games 25 bucks is worth it.
First time I ever pre-ordered a game, but Galciv2 is such a great game the expasion is going to be great too.
I downloaded the Beta and it works fine. Be sure you update all your drivers as this could be a machine crippling install if you don't. It actually works pretty good. Galciv2 and Galciv both worked flawlessly.
I agree with the economic research.... Go all the way up early in the game. I never run out of money with stock markets, farm and entertainment building combo. It still leaves room on most planets for other buildings. I stay away from cultural buildings as I build enough stiock markets to make up for the influence. Don't forget to adjust your sliders that will also help your economy. On small maps I, usually, by the 9th or 10th turn I am making 400 to 500 with taxes at 39% per turn. S
That wouldn't be such a bad idea though. Multiple weapon platforms shuld be able to engage multiple ship types.
Arghhhh... The pain of waiting is killing me.... This update looks so good too. Thanks Stardock for all the hardwork you guys and gals are doing its a great game.
I research the life support tech for the range and other benifits, but what does the modules do in ship designer. The engines give my ship the range it needs. What does life support really do? Sorry for the newbie question.
Research Hull Sizes, Defense Techs, Weapon Techs, Life Support, Engines, Sensors. That will open up a lot of the premade ships..... The library also has an Ecel sheet that someone made (link is somewhere in this thread). Good Luck.... Designed ships are better though. I'm still uncertain what life support does on a ship as engines give the range.
I've had that happen too. Now a fly the ship to the planet I want it to be by then give it away. The AI then uses it.
Ex-girlfriends... So that when I lose a ship it doesn't feel as bad.
