1-Normal ships, perhaps of a certain size like medium, could bomb/laser/nuke planets from orbit. No more having to conquer every enemy planet, just glass the planet and move on. Bombing should have 1 or 2 tech tree branches, 1 for more destructive effects, and one for more "clean" types that only kills population (and possibly factories and stuff) but doesnt lower planet quality. Win the fleet battle around the planet, the option to bomb is given. 2-Superweapon that can destroy a plan

Its not cheesy to build a huge decked out starbase from a huge, massive fleet of constructors. Whats "wrong" with the situation is that the AI allows the huge massive fleet of constructors to enter its territory. In real life military actions, the unarmoed huge fleet of constructors would be attacked and destroyed by the opposing military. Thats why you dont send unarmed fleets into enemy territory unescorted. In this game, however, you can send you unarmed ships in and they are just
Wow I cant believe this feature doesnt exist. I mean, in a huge galaxy i'd much rather blow them up than have to invade each planet. I guess i'm too used to MoO.
Ok so I finally got into wars. I built up fleets, i have defences. Its time to take the fight to the enemy. I researched Planetary Bombardment. I have medium ships with lots of beams on them. I send a fleet of 3 ships to the enemy planet and destroy the puny ships there. The planet is defenseless. How do I make my ships orbitally bombard the planet from orbit, destroying all the buildings and population? I tried right clicking on
So, I have played the game, and its awesome. But I have some questions: 1-The stellar cartography tech says it allows me to see planets on the minimap. So, this tech's sole purpose is to put the little planet dots on the minimap next to the star dots? I still cant click on them as they are hidden in the fog, i cant tell if they are habitable or anything. I just get dots, so in theory i know the number of planets and basically nothing more. Right? 2-Population growth: Aside
So, I ordered the cd from stardock (from this GalCiv II website), then used the email I got to download electronically. Installed everything just fine. Now I see some posts here that I need to update it for the collectors edition stuff (new jewlery etc) so I go to that web page (after not finding anything in the stardock central) and download and EXE that says it installs a lot of stuff. Run that, it says successful. I go into my last saved game, go to shipyard and dont see any new widgets.
