Is Stardock aware of the problem? If not, we should bring it to attention. I've notified the developers of this thread. I'm certain it will be looked into. Thanks for the description.

Just make sure you don't play it at any lower resolution than 1024x768 32-bit color depth. Other than that, you should be good to go.

Reply to Moon orbit in Game Talk

It's not that the moon rotates in the wrong direction. It's just that the Earth's texture is upside-down. This is, of course, by design.

Thanks to all in IRC that addressed the issue. For those of you that haven't been the Stardock IRC channel it IS a helpful place to get answers quickly. This is true. The channel has never been fuller than it has lately. Lots of hardcore gamers and staff in there around the clock. server: irc.stardock.com channel: #GalCiv <img src="http://ima

I personally snag every planet I can. I'll buy colony ships immediately to get one per turn and snag as many planets as possible. Then I worry about the finances later. Usually there will be enough taxes going to make up for it, so it works out.

I haven't seen a starbase attack and don't think it's programmed to work that way. At first I thought that might be a neat option, but then that kind of defeats the purpose of creating your own ships and producing enough of them to defend your planets.

The information is taken directly from the game’s data files, and therefore always up-to-date. The Galactopedia is © 2006 by Christoph Nahr but available for free download under the MIT

Try adjusting your Spending slider up a bit and see if that helps. Also, make sure (while overall Spending is up) to put more spending into military production. If your money is in the negative, sometimes the game will automatically hault all production of ships and buildings to try to recoup some costs and get you into the black.

Can you post a screenshot so we can see the exact screen, please?

Thanks for the tip. We'll test reproduceability on this and, if consistant, will work to get it into a patch in the near future.

I've alerted the web development team to this. Thanks for taking the time to post a screenshot. That helps considerably.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to answer the questions posed by Frogboy. The feedback has helped the developers narrow down the problem quite a bit more.

To help cut down on this kind of thing, I usually direct a ship to travel to within one space before a planet or intended destination. From there, I'll refine the path by right-clicking on the planet or exact spot I want it to go. That usually straightens out the path. Sure it's an extra click, but since my focus is already on that ship it's usually more convenient for me to do so.

You can enable windowed mode by creating a shortcut to GalCiv2.exe and use that to start the game. 1) Use Windows Explorer to find GalCiv2.exe. 2) Right click on GalCiv2.exe and choose create shortcut. 3) Right click on the shortcut and choose properties. 4) Click in the target field and hit end. Hit Space followed by the letter w. No switches neccesary.
