Can trade ships traverse worm-holes? If so, are there prerequisites? I started a single-player game on a map where each solar system is connected only by wormholes. In my second solar system, my colonies all have low allegiance. 1) How do I effectively use broadcast centers? 2) Does this culture spread across worm-holes? 3) Is there a better way to keep allegiance up?

I'm doing OK in a a new game, up to medium scale building. I'm average in military strength. I get a random event - "Pirates! ...etc, etc." A few turns later, I get another message - "Pirates have Ascension, etc, etc. Won't share with other races". The problem? Pirate fleets are now RIDICULOUSLY overpowered. With my "average" military I had a few fleets with missile attack / defense 6. Pirate fleets now have around 570 missile attack / defense. <br/

Hello, I've downloaded the game and have been enjoying it. I'm running Windows Vista with a Soundblaster Audigy (Audigy Gamer, it's probably 5-6 years old by now. I'm using the driver version 2.12.001) The game runs fine...loads ok, graphics fine, background music OK...***BUT*** I get no sound effects. Nothing when I click menus, nothing when my ships engage in combat, nada. The only sound in-game is the background music. I have sound problems with no other games i

Hello, I'm wondering how you guys name your planets. When I started out, I tended to just keep the star-basesd name for most of my colonies. This looks decent, but in bigger maps it got anoying have to constantly recheck the colony screen of Skowbo II to find out just what I was building on it. So I got a brilliant idea Give the planets descriptive names. So from then on, I wo

Done. If anyone wants to load up a SAV to see if they see the same thing, here's a bugged game of mine. Bugged Morale

This morale issue does not happen every game, but it has happened more than once. I loaded up a saved game where this bug is occuring. Took one turn. A good number of my colonies flipped and formed a neutral race on this turn. Quit, and grabbed the debug.err file Posting debug.err Debug Message: Version v1.4x last updated on: Mon Oct 23 17:43:56 2006 Debug Message: GalCiv2 is activated. Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Hello, I seem to be getting a strange morale bug. Fairly early in the game, all of a sudden my home planet has an approval rating of 1%. Note that taxes aren't that high, I have the dominant influence in this sector and there's nothing that I see that should be getting me this crazy low morale. When I mouse over the morale on the planet, I see: Morale: 1% -10% from Population -36% from Taxes +17% from buildings on Planet +- (NOTE PLUS NEGATIVE

Right click Magic.exe and change the properties to allocate all the memory it needs (set all memory to maximum, run under Win95 compatibility mode). Run the install program from magic and disable sound. Try to run magic.exe now. If it works, run the install program using right-click VDMsound and pick soundblaster for sound. Then try to rightclick-VDMsound magic.exe That's how I got it to work on an Athlon VIA chipset, at least.

Two things that would make me ecstatic: 1) A manual that has the proper numerical/mathematical depth - I want to know how damage in combat, population growth, espionage etc. is calculated. 2) Designing ships is kind of fun, but PLEASE have some basic ship templates that will automatically examine the tech you have and build a reasonable ship around typical roles - bomber, starfighter, capital ship etc. Having to design every last ship in MOO really turned me off, as I always f

Hello group, I'm new to this game (and I love it) but I do need to ask about the planet quality ability that can be chosen upon starting a new game: 1) Do the planet numbers reflect the improved planet quality upon scouting them? If not: 2) Does the planet quality improve as soon as you settle the planet? I ask because I just played a game where I picked the highest level of PQ improvement, and didn't seem to see any difference when I went after the 1

Both MOM and MOO have a permanant spot on my hard drive. Both of them - absolutely fantastic games that have the perfect level of detail and micromanagement for my taste. For the poster who questioned how to get them to work in a Windows enviroment - I've had great luck with VDMSound, which can be downloaded at http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound/ [Message Edited]
