Totally agreed with Quixen. CGII is a great game. Will be better with tactical battles. If we (supporters, customers, players) of CG can generate enough demand for it and the developers listened..maybe there is hope for it to appear in the game.

Unfortunately, NOT. GCII is mainly focus on its AI and high level strategy. Tactical battles like ship and ground battles are simply resolved automatically. You don't get to control the ships or troops in battle. It really depend on what you look for in the game - strategy planning or tactical battle. If you're looking for tactical battle, you'll be disappointed. Personally, I perfer a "well balanced" game like Imperium Galactica II: Alliances which have both strategy and tacti

No, I am not looking at RPG but rather something of a 4x Medieval / Fantasy, Turn-based Strategy game. I think Heores of Might and Magic V is the type but I wonder if anyone knows of some more.

Yes, a lot of one thing is no good (obviously). I feel that CG2 concentrated too much on high level strategic part of the game and Total War too much on tactical battles (may take hours to finish a battle). IG2 is well balanced on both areas and catered for both type of players. Personally, I perferred a well balanced game like IG2. CG2 is indeed a great game having the right amount of strategic focus and AI. It can do better if it provides the IG2 tactical battles and 3D plan

That's right! Pax Imperia's space battle is so much better tactically. You need to get the right mix and then control the ships movement to win the battle. Indeed of being the leader of your race, you get to be the Admiral of the fleet. Similarly in the ground battle, you get to be the General in executing the attack/defense of the battle/city. These just give the game so much more fun than just boringly clicking the TURN button.

Can anybody tell me if there are more of the "Sword Of Aragon" type of Managerial, Medieval / Fantasy, Turn-based strategy game nowadays?? http://home.flash.net/~rayearle/Sfiles/SwrdArgn.html This game is totally amazing with great AI and fantastic storyline. I wish somebody can tell me if there are more of such type of game recently out there. Thanks!

I played IG II many years ago and it was fantastic! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperium_Galactica_II Recently I was introduced to GCII and Dark Avatar (beta). Both were great games too. However, after playing for a few times with different challenge setting, I got bored. Took me just one month (playing about 2 hrs each day) to get completely bored with it. Perhaps it's just me. I found that the game is pretty much focus on strategy in general and not much in the tact

This is definitely a newbie question but I simply don't know the answer. I have search the forum and there is no answer. (Everyone smarter than me.. ) I have my freighter built but how do I get it to a trade route? Do I form trade route within my own planets or must it be with another race?

Ok,thanks everyone for your comments and feedback. I can safely conclude that the ship(s) battle is made simple for performance constraint but for those with very good graphics card and system, I hope there could be a feature to provide better animations. Well, I guess it's in DA now and I can't wait to try out DA! And yes, I agreed with Avenger that if there are some control or AI that the ships will take out the weaker ships first, it'll be great. I played Master of Orion before and i

I totally agreed that unable to remove captured capital building is nonsense. Why put such restriction with the excuse that I have to espionage to find out where capital buildings of enemy race? Who's care about enemy capital building after the planet is captured!? The only valid reason to find their capital buildings planets during espionage is to conquer them and reduce their infleuence, bonuses, etc but not to keep their buildings after that. It is definitely poor design an

I think there should be more random events in the games such as... 1) Planets should be strike by diseases, famines, quakes in a way that it will deplete the populations, destroy certain faculties or completely destroy the planet (i.e make it become neutral, uncolonized) unless certain resarch are archieved to resolve the catastrophe. --This will throw a spanner into the race's intended path of research. 2) Space Monsters! (See other thread) -- This will cause race or

I built my first fleet of destroyers, each covered with lasers (actually 3 to 4 lasers) and sent it to attack another race fleet. After spending so much time designing the ship and carefully placing the weapons at various hardpoints, I was eager to see them at work in a grand, glorious fleet battle with ALL the lasers blazing away, burning and melting enemy ships' armour, seeing them break apart, splitting their guts (ships)and exploding into atoms. I was ready to watch the battle in f

This could be a newbie question. I have many Defender class ships running around the galaxy and I believe I may have forgotten the location of some of them. I will like to direct all of them to a rally point. I know how to setup the rally point but how can I redirect the ships to it? I try to use the Manager but do not know how.

YES! YES and YES! Space monster will be GREAT! I never played GCI but played Master of Orion long ago and they have space monsters too. They were great and simply. -A super strong and dangerous space monster will appear at random location in the galaxy -Run a straight but random direction across the galaxy. -To make is simple, the monster will behave like a huge, single but very powerful ship. -It's movement will be slow like 2-3 parsec per turn so that your ships can esca

Hi, just another small update to my resoluton above. I have also disabled the anti-aliasing in the game. I found that if I enable it, it will 'freeze' the game again.

To add to my above resolution, I have also disabled the anti-aliasing in the game (i.e. set it to 0). I found that if I enabled it, the 'freezing' problem will come back again.

I think the "Carrier" ship will be a neat idea. I can understand the complexity of having a Carrier but it can be a simple. 1. Have a Colony size ship with base hp of 10 and lots of space for life support, armour, defence, sensors, repair unit, weapons, troop unit and most importantly - hanger. 2. Each life support added will increase the hp but not alot. This is to force the player to provide escort to the carrier. In battle, the carrier should be the last to get destroy after all

This maybe a newbie question. How do I manage and check that all my ships has taken their movement turn? I find that I have many constructors, suvery and other ships moving about the galaxy. I know that if I move a ship, the game will automatic bring me to the next "un-move" ship and so on but if I wanted to skip that "un-move" ship's turn and go on to the next ship (or fleet), how can I do it?

Is there a "carrier" ship that carry squadron/fleet of tiny or small size crafts in GCII? I think this will be a be neat idea because typically the tiny or small size craft do not have much range and shouldn't have such range to travel half the galaxy alone.

I have resolved my issue with an older nVidia drivers. I use the drivers that came with my Leadtek PX7950GT TH card. Didn't check the version but I believe it is older than the 91.47 drivers. I am still playing in Windows mode with hardware mouse cursor enabled and my game resolution is the same as my desktop's. So, it is confirm that the game is incompatible with the latest Nvidia drivers. Let's hope Stardock resolve this issue with Nvidia soon.
