Hi! I recently installed GC2 again after not playing it for a while. Last time I played it was long ago back on my Win XP system. I have since formatted and installed Windows 7 (64 bit) and a completely new Impulse. So I went on Impulse to install GC2 with both updates, DA and TotA. Installing it works fine and starting GC2 itself also works but as soon as I try to start either Dark Avatar or Twilight of the Arnor I only get a black screen with the GC themed mouse cursor. This

You can change the install path in the Impulse settings. However, it will ignore the Impulse settings if another path is already registered for Sins. To change that one you can open the registry and search for Sins, then just move the files to the other drive and change the path in the registry accordingly. I do not have the time or bandwidth to re-download Sins 4 times or even a single time. I am very disappointed that no StarDock official can give some advice on this :( Support

Just to be clear: The 40% is not only a "normal" increase in sales. The day of the Linux release, more stuff was sold then any other day. It was not simply an increase in sales of 40%, the previous record of maximum sales per day was beaten by 40%. This means that at the day of the Linux release at least 40% more copies were sold then on the day of the Windows release! Despite the fact that the Windows release was a lot earlier, which usually means more sal

I wanted to upgrade from the beta to the full release. Impulse told me that this isn't possible and I have to uninstall the Entrenchment beta. I told Impulse to uninstall the beta and now all of Sins is gone! The files are still on the hard drive but I can't start the game and when I try to install Entrechment and tell it were the Sins install path is it doesn't recognise it. This totally sucks! I don't want to download the whole 1.5 GB for Sins again. I want my old Sins back.

Well, Linux market share doubling in 2 years isn't that impressive if you see the increase from 0.5% to 1% ;) The MS loss is mainly caused by the success of Apple. Since Mac OS uses a BSD core, having Linux compartibility also means basically free mac compartibility. And that is quite a huge part of the market. In addition to that I doubt the numbers in that graph. How were they obtained? It looks like that site averages hits on web pages and checks the browser identification for

However for games, DirectX does 3d, but also sound, input, and similar. Microsoft is also very supportive of prospective developers. Most importantly, since so much of the userbase runs Windows, there's little benefit to a Mac/Linux port.
That's why I mentioned SDL before. Here the link: <a href="http://www.libsdl.org

If it is now feasible for Linux to be used without learning commands, then it's well on its way to a broader audience.. This is almost as bad as the "you need a $5,000 computer to play games" misconception. Ubuntu Linux (and a dozen other distros) can be used without touching the command line. As you play
I'd be very happy with a Mac OS market share of 20%, Windows 50% and Linux 30%. I GNU/Linux achieves this market share then it will simply steamroll over Windows and Macs. The only thing holding it back atm is lack of program compatibility. Such a market share would mean that most companies would create their programs as mutliplatform in order to capitulate in all the markets. And once there is no app that cannot run on 'Nix, then its freedo
And honestly, I feel one of the single largest barriers to getting games onto Linux is support. Oh my lord supporting software on Linux is a logistical nightmare. There is no single base configuration you can count on. One can't assume that anyone will have X version of Y library, or that they haven't done something hacky to circumvent a problem on their system. The state of Linux video card drivers is also a shakey thing.&nb

This means we could see a linux compatible version of Half Life 2 at some point. Not necessarily that we will see a Steam client for Linux. 2. Games supported under WINE/Transgaming etc. aren't usually done by the game developer themselves. Specifically in the case of Cedega, they have to patch in game-specific support.<br

In a 2v1 situation the stun team kills the other guy, duh. It's just like in DotA: Don't go in 2v1 and expect to survive. It's just stupid and certainly no sign of imbalance if you get owned. And again as in DotA: If you get stunned, get your team to help you out. In a 5v5 battle your 4 team members should be able to take out one of their heroes while they are wasting all their stuns on you. And yet again DotA: Positioning wins the game. Be the team that ganks on the enemy, no

What's the problem with stunlocking? Oh, 4 people can focus on one enemy and kill it? Duh! Get the rest of your team to hit them. Stuns are also available in DotA and stunlocking is also possible there. It is a good team strategy, yes. But it is in no way overpowered. Please don't nerf good gameplay mechanics :(

Not sure if it is in any way related but I recently had a problem with games being installed in the wrong path. Impulse seems to read registry entries, changing that ones helped with my path problem. Maybe there are some left over registry entries for Space Rangers that mess up Impulse?
