-it is a via chipset there are two via chips on is right next to the graphics card slot that is a VT6307 the other is is slightly below it and is labeled vt8307 -power supply is 550 watt -master/slave set -IDE hard drive ribbon moved from secondary IDE to primary IDE -hard drives appear stable for the moment I have yet to plug the dvd drives into the secondary IDE to see if they disappear -will test in 30 min(food)
How do I figure out what chipset it is?
they are both on "cable select"
Updated with newest BIOS from Asus a week ago to try to fix it.File name is sk8v1003 as for master/slave part I don't know but I'll look it up.
my computer for as long as ive owned it has had hard drive problems when hard drives other than the Raid drives are present. when i put in the two ide drives in and start windows the drives are detected and everything is fine but at varying times even if i do absolutly nothing but refresh my computer the ide drives will disapear. I've tried to use the disk manager and windows add hardware option to intall drives or at least get them detected again but it is no use. if someone could help me resol
