I was concerned earlier when renewal time came up and I renewed. I wasn't sure if I would regret it, now it sounds like I won't at all. Though to be sure I kinda wish I had Vista to take advantage of more, but sounds like plenty for XP as well.

Unfortunately some products don't get updated as often as they'd like due to various reasons. Sometimes the same developer does more than one program. I don't work for Stardock btw. Also August is only 6 months ago, and yes it would be nice not to have a beta be the last release, but these things happen. I would imagine its on the agenda for this year.

I have the same issue as MySecret, no system tray icons. I just can't get them to show. On XP SP2 as well. Even though I rarely need the tray, I still need it accessible.

Well I am using the WB 5.5 version of Encoded that just came out and it has sound effects. There is also a version for WB4.6 of encoded however I have not installed that so I am using the one just recently updated by the author. My issue is that the sound effects won't turn off like they are supposed to do. There is an option in WB to turn off sound effects and it isn't working. I turn them off, yet they remain turned on. <a href="https://www.wincustomize.com/resources.aspx?cmd=3"

Turning sounds off in WB is not working for me. I'm using version 5.5 . I usually don't notice it as many skins don't include sounds. However I have the update to Encoded and it has sounds. I turn them off in WB where the settings is, hit apply yet the sounds are still there. After I close the WB config and reopen it, sounds are checked off again. Sounds (no pun intended) to me like there is an error in there as selecting the option should keep it. Thanks Otherwis

MS has known about UAC not being well-received for awhile and yet have refused to add those two mentioned adjustments. Stardock may be prevented though from helping if it is indeed something MS would sue over. Though to be sure if MS doesn't fix it and Stardock can't, someone out there will and people will find it.

Generally any website that has a re-do is awkward to use at first, but some people are extremely resistant to change. Personally I like change, at least after a time. I thought the reason someone came to a CUSTOMIZATION site is because they like change. Seems ironic to me to complain about the site as the person who started this thread stated. I don't find its radically different overall. It runs fast and is better organized in the few areas I have explored so far. Having the listing on

The article still has a subtitle that seems to say Apple is late to the party. I didn't get to apparently see the tongue-in-cheek version but I can understand people getting upset. You don't put a "joke" on the front page unless its April Fools Day or you put a disclaimer at the end of it to say it was all tongue-in-cheek. Otherwise you will get the reputation that no one can believe what is on the front page which is supposed to be news items.

Sure maybe FF2's interface isn't quite as souped up as IE7, but IE7 just feels totally out of place on XP and inefficient in its use of space. There is no way I could use IE7 as my main browser after being on FF for over 2 years. It just doesn't work out for me. It has some nice updates, but its only just caught up to FF, it has a ways to go if its going to best it.

I think the Wii is the direction gaming needs to take. It is not so immersive to be pressing buttons. You can get more into the action by moving the controller. Heck many people have moved the controller since we had controllers and it didn't help them at all, now it can. I would get a Wii except even at its much more affordable price I can't afford one right now. People thought the DS was stupid, well why then has it sold incredibly well? Just because its outside the "no

I wasn't sure where to post there as there doesn't seem to be a location for general questions about the site. I have been here for some time, but admittedly am not very involved. However I have noticed for quite awhile now an overwhelming number of the articles appearing on the front page are political in nature. True we just got through with an election, but still I feel it should be more spread over other subjects. I could not find anyway to adjust things for a better cross-sectio

Still hate the newer poll. Why can't we have a poll that is active on screen like most sites. If you've answered it, then it simply shows the current results. We have to click to go to a separate screen and back. Though the list of past polls is a nice addition, I just very much dislike this poll system. Someone mentioned the missing icons for the gallery list, I agree, it looks too plain without them there. Also helped to easily identi

Man I hate it when someone posts a screenshot and end up having to scroll horizontally to read posts. Either images need to automatically re-size or have links created for them. True I have a smaller display than I'd like, but certainly in this case it didn't need to be so huge.

They updated the links at Neowin and now you don't have to worry about Yahoo install. It works great. I'm not sure about switching from FF to IE7 as I love my FF. The UI is the biggest problem with IE. Its all over the place and have to move the mouse too much to get to things (even though I use mouse gestures so don't really need the back/forward buttons. I'll be comparing speeds and display shortly. One interesting note is I

I had noticed no poll if I wasn't logged in either, which didn't matter to me. However I agree with DesignCaddy I don't really notice the poll the way it is now. I only respond when its posted as a news story, and if that's the case then it should simply just be part of a news story.

Maybe I missed this explanation but why do we now have to click to another page for the actual vote, then once voted have to click back there again to see the results? It was nicer the way it was before where you could see the vote choices, and then the page would refresh and you'd see the results.

Well I think it looks good, however I need some new skins to really get playing around with it. None of the included ones really does anything for me.

I was pretty interested in Vista early on but my interest is waning. Sure it looks nicer, but it seems like it isn't going to be worth the upgrade. Not that my laptop is likely to really do well with it anyway. I have 1/2 gig of memory and even on XP that is sometimes a problem. I was far more excited about XP and its potential, Vista is seeming more like a minor upgrade, not a must have.

I have IE7 installed, but I won't use it. Its got a poor interface that I can't get used to using and I can't customize it like I used to be able to do. Otherwise it does seem to work faster than previous versions and the additions of tabs is nice to have, although I don't like that the tab bar area is taken up by other icons and stuff, so there isn't much room for tabs.
