Nope, it got removed. Something the Galciv2 fiasco probably had something to do with. Galciv2: Removing the threat of Starforce from the galaxy!

Weird. After much refreashing of the page after I posted, I could then vote. Anyways, it was the posts made in the comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.stratagy where Brad copied his journal notes pre-release, same as he did for Galciv 1 (which is what made me buy that too).
For some reason, I see no way to vote, only the totals. I'd vote but it won't let me, in both Netscape and IE.
I just got the remake of Star Control 2 to work, and it's clear that GalCiv based on SC/Star flight is an obvious path to take. In one of the interviews it was mentioned "Galactic Tyrants" would probably be such a game. IGive the ability to do tactical combat , and it would work quite well I think. Very few space RPG's have come out since i think the failure of Star Control 3.
So the complaints in this thread must be using beta 1 and not the released beta 2? I think they win a self-owning award.
Why be surprised by "exploring is cool"? It's one of the 4 X's, and unlike Civ which has terrian, galciv was lacking in itt. Anomlies have it somewhat, but they run out after the first year of gametime. Idea: There should be ethics choices when exploring anolmies, not just planets. Along the line of "The captain of Survay Ship 1045 has been offered marragie to a green alterian slave. Does he accept the offer?" and other Star trekenin gags.
How can this question not be answered yet from Frogboy I don't understand.
Somethings wrong with the campgain. After misson 3 (the infamous Seige) and the torian misson after that, every misson I did was like it was on cakewalk, and not normal. It was a matter of researching plantary invasions. The AI didn't try and capture one planet, little lone build a single spacefleet. Also, anyone got any idea which missons change if you win or lose them?
AFIAK when you're survaying anolalies....ananon..andonlam...exploring the universe with Survay pods, instead if increasing your tevch by 25%, it should do it by 50%. In other words, pretty useless.
I had one game where my biggest threats were the Arcans (large fleet) and the Altariens (large tech). They were on oppoisite sides of my empire. After I destroyred the Krox home world, they surrended to the....Arcanans. Who now had 2 planets next to he Alterianes. BOOM. Instant cold war between the 2 former friends and it was very easy to convince the Arcanans to attack the Atlerians, thus weakening both empires and making it oh so easy to w
it sounds all very amusing to me. The minors do that so you notice them, and can them wipe them from the galaxy for trying to bully their betters.
First time post, but I havn't seen many stratagy threads as I thought there would be. Does anyone else not ever build tiny ships, but just small ones? I havn't got to the really high weapon and defence techs, but they seem kinda pointless when you get twice the size hull at start.
