glad to see I'm not the oldest galciv geezer, but it does look like I am the only female so far. My hubby and I both like GalCiv I and II though he is spending more time lately playing on-line poker. 54 years young, nights and weekends like most of you. Haven't played much GC in a while, as it takes so long to conquer the universe... I like Rise of Nations, I and II. Sim City, Orion a long time ago, Freelancer once in a while. Age of Wonders, shadow magic, oblivion, and their pr-quels. Used

1. Definitely better planet management-- though I still find the AI ignoring bonus tiles, setting up a technological capital on a planet with no research tiles, installing 4 farms on a planet with only 6 usable tiles. I still have to tweak most conquered planets. 2. Faster on the AI colonization. I spot colony ships in my space much sooner. I don't always get there first. 3. Harder to get an Influence victory. I had to go for a Tech victory as they were resisting <img src="http

I like to go the Industrialist route, to the extent I also up the racial bonus on War Production another 20%. This gives me a solid early edge in producing colony ships, constructors, then warships. My goal is to first grab all the planets and resources possible, then run to the top of the military ranking as fast as I can, then stay there.

5. I think this is by design, but every game I play, my user-made ship designs keep coming back. I realize a lot of players may like this because they don't have to re-design their ships every game, but I would like a button that would allow me to re-set my user designs. If I gather technologies in a different order (almost a giv

- Space anomalies shoould sometimes appear during gameplay. After you initially cleaned up the map there is no point in having survey vessels...... - Fleet debris should sometimes result from a large space battle. More work for that survey vessel.... I concur with this thought. Right now the s

Civilization Manager - it would be nice if it reflected the focus of the planet. If I have a planet flagged to focus on Social, I would like to be see that flagged here as well. Maybe even a way to change focus from the Civ Manager as well. I very much concur with this request

Am I the only one? I sure miss the strategy screen from the old Gal Civ. I could really see which ships were dispatched where (and zoom in if I had a doubt). I could spot available resources quickly. The side screen is ok but at huge or gigantic universes it just doesn't provide the detail I crave. Also the inability to see influence zones immediately at 200% is irksome. I usually zoom in to 300% then back out to 200% to get the colored influence

"#2 You can RIGHT-CLICK on the ship built block notifications that flow down on the right and your ship will automatically be launched" Unfortunately I haven't been able to find this feature. Please provide more of a description of where this can be found "flowing down on th right" just hasn't been enuf for me to find this. I have RIGHT_CLICKED my way most everywhere and would love to find this feature, but have yet to find an easy way to

This feature drives me to swear most turns. If I move a ship near a star system and want to examine it , zip I'm off to some other ship all the way across the galaxy. I then have to drag the screen back to the original system to colonize the right planet. And in combat.... If you spot an enemy getting back to it is sometimes very tough-- especially if you blew past him and he doesn't show up on the screen anymore. please, please let me turn this of

I have found that many of those low quality planets have some really nice upgrade squares. I ignored them in my first games and picked them up by influence later. Now I'm more apt to settle those near good planets in hopes of picking up a few 300% or 700% manufacturing squares. If there aren't any nice goodies on them, I still put a starport & at least one factory, entertainment spot and then mostly factories for the rest. These planets are good c

I usually wait til I can obsolete that ship class, then get a few bc back for them. If you obsolete them in space the colonists seem to "disappear".

for those having save game then reloading problems-- I could not reload any save game from the first day I got the game. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I updated drivers. No luck. I posted here. Yesterday I tried a new tactic-- I deleted the Gal CivII folder from the My Game folder (where saved games and preferences live). I then reloaded the game using windows "add new software" from the control panel. (the game doesn't want to reload it will let you play without this folder); an

I can't quit the game and load a save without "encountering a problem and needing to close" I followed the sticky and reset my virtual memory to 2 gig and without this helping. I also used the xp manager and shutdown all extraneous processes. I can save and exit to the main menu and reload without problem. The problem only seems to occur after I quit a game. It doesn't matter whether the game is tiny or huge, whether I am Terran or new race, wheth
