April 2086 Good afternoon. Thank you for attending this meeting. We have been taking your questions via the Google document . If you will enable your FaceGoog implants to turn to the topic of Precursors from the 2085 lecture we can begin. We will assume you have gone over the classified materials from the recent Emdrive test . As a

I'm really not going to get into a debate with someone who isn't clear on how important brands are to sales or suggests there isn't vast empirical data on it. Two sodas. They're identical. One is called Coca Cola. The other is called "Fizz One". We can debate on the value of these brands. But that's subjective and unless you have a background in marketing and product sales, it's not a very interesting discussion to have.

Actually, that’s a very good analogy. Wargaming bought the Total Annihilation trademark for something near $1.6M. Why? Because that has a lot of name recognition. If Ashes f the Singularity had been called Supreme Commander 3 (would have required design changes to make it a SupCom game) we’d probably have sold multiples of what it has sold so far. Brand awareness is very valuable. Ask the latest owner of Atari. ;)
The timing alone was what made me suspicious of P&F, why allow SCO to be developed for 4 years? It doesn't make any sense to me. They shouldn't have allowed Atari to sell it in the first place, they are acting like 'copyright trolls' just waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Atari had the trademark. But they didn't claim to own the copyrights (as far as I know anyway). Stardock's intention was t

@Starkillr: Agreed. My opinion on these things is well known. For instance, we bid on the Master of Orion IP too. If we had got it, you can bet that we would have developed a Master of Orion game that was a natural evolution of Master of Orion II. When we released Ashes of the Singularity, we spent around $600,000 in marketing. Acquiring Star Control for $300,000 allowed us to instantly communicate the type of game it would be saving us hundreds of thou
-Does Star Control:Origins with no SC1/2/UQM aliens require royalty payments to P&F since it doesn't use any of their copywritten material? -Would a theoretical Star Control X developed by Stardock that includes aliens and ship designs from SC2, etc, require royalty payments to P&F under the same terms as Star Control 3? -In a step further, could a theoretical Star Control Y directly continue the story of SC2, ref

When someone asks that the AI play like a god, we assume they want it to play like a god. :) As others have pointed out, you can adjust the highest difficulty levels. In a future update, we plan to have a natural speed reduction when traveling through someone else's ZOC and then increase the max speed of ships. This way, when you't traveling through the great void, you can go really fast but not suddenly show up on someone's door with a mega fast fleet.

The core game loop of Star Control: Origins is pretty damn fun so far (I think anyway). But what we think will help it stand out is the sheer depth of the universe you are playing in. There are no rails in this game. There is an overall story arch with many many side-stories in the universe to go to. And there are many different paths you can take.
I have a question. Is there a court date for when the both parties go before the judge and the judge determines if the 1988 thing is or is not valid? I understand that delaying is a tactic to wear out the other party. I would hate to see resources from SD be wasted which could otherwise be used to create great games.
Mid 2019 for that. Right now, Stardock is functioning o

To understand the mindset we’ve been dealing with you just need to read their complaint. I want to point out that they put this in their lawsuit as evidence against me. This is a quote of me that I presume they think makes me look bad. I assume everyone here understands that ideas aren’t copyrightable. I also can assure you that I may be inspired again by someo
