Beta 4 UI bugs for BoogieBac

Just some minor UI issues for BoogieBac to look at (since that is one of the aspects of beta 4!):

• "Create Character" button on in game metaverse screen needs to be longer, as the text on it is currently broken across two lines (thus spilling above/below the button).

• The little background square for orbiting ships when you choose a planet on the map does not obey the color scheme for non-human races (it stays Terran Cyan no matter what).

• The Previous button at the top right of the planet page does not grey out when you have only one planet as the Next button does (the text is greyed and the button does nothing, but the button itself is still brightly colored).

I'll post more UI bugs here as I find them.

The text also doesn't line up with the buttons on the "Victory/Loss" summary screen when you end a game.

On the Domestic->Stats page, clicking on one of the different stat type buttons causes the entire background of the stats page to disappear, leaving only the content and frame. Also on this page, the Society text is indented but the others are not.

On the ship design page, the capacities listed on the hull selection pallette do not reflect miniturization.

I went to upgrade a resource space station and now have 2 spacestations in the same tile, stacked.

Ashbery, please limit this thread to User Interface problems (since that's BoogieBac's job AFAIK). Crashes and starbase cloning should go in other threads where they will be seen by the appropriate stardockians.

The GNN window announcing completed projects cuts off the text. It shows you the name of the enhancement (building project or starship) followed by the name of the colony that built it, but the name of the colony frequently gets cut off so you can't tell from that window where it was built. I'd prefer to see the text wrapped to a new line.

You should try Bulid 76 It seems to function better and be a "real" major Civ the custom race thing is still not complete so im ussually Yor now an atlantairns Kill me with support of The thalan... oh well it means the AI is actually smart now anyways...

Some tech names in the tree browser do not wrap correctly (breaking twice instead of once so the text overfows the top and bottom of its box).

A minor polish point: on the metaverse login box, you should be able to switch between the text fields by pressing tab (as with any other windows program). It would also be nice if the game saved the login details between sessions (or had an option to do so).

When I bring up the planet/colony list and scroll down, then select a colony and change the ship or project it is building, the whole colony list snaps back to the top of the list. It'd be more user friendly to leave the colony list where it is - if I'm scrolling down to change one colony it's because I'm reviewing all of them, and I don't want to have to scroll for each one.

The colonization event where a precursor artifact is discovered that feeds off life force has text that is too big (or too long) to fit in the display - the good and neutral choices are readable, but the evil choice runs off the bottom so that you can't see what the reward/penalty is. There's no way to scroll that part of the window, and I'd prefer not to scroll it anyway. The text and check boxes should be scaled to fit in the available space.

I'm getting some corruption on the main screen, I was actually getting it in last build too. The main buttons running along the bottom (domestic, research, shipyard, diplomacy atc) are messed up. The icons are sort of shrunk with bars occupying the larger area they should take up.

The planet rename dialog uses the 'name new colony' text. Also, it seems you can rename any planet, not just ones you own.

Ugleb, please send your debug.err file and a screenshot to me at [email protected] regarding the corruption on the main screen.

By the way, I really like the new method for loading up colony ships.

Event screen for first colony while playing another race still claims we're from "earth". I don't think the pesky earthlings would like the entire Thalan Empire to be on their planet

Culture Wars Status Report: We have 0 percent of the overall galactic influence. This shouldn't be possible without having lost. Plus, I'm not losing...I'm winning.

Bunch of "/n" marks visible in the viewpoint report display on the diplomacy screen.

Status report screen

"Humans currently represent 43.0 percent of the galactic population"

This would be fine, except it's talking about me, the Thalans.

Election preview quarterly report

"Under a galactic republic, democracy or federation Earth's colonies...."

Another reference to this "Earth" place, why do all of our Thalan records seem to be written by humans?

Another quarterly status report:

"The humans are considered a good civilization with a military rating...."

Another reference to humans.... but we're not human.

All of the quarterly reports have reported the Thalans as being the least powerful civ, whereas they are actually the most powerful in my current game (by far!). I am not certain if all the other civs have remained in the same order or not. I am wondering if this particular display isn't connected yet?

Yet another UI tweak posted by me

Senate vote screen incorrectly displays which party you are part of. It claims I'm industrialist, when I'm quite sure that I'm technologist. The game also seems to recognize that I am technologist, since I still gain the bonuses granted by the techies when they won the election, even though the senate vote screen says that my party still lacks control.

I've reported that over in Frogboy's bugs thread. When I "won" the election with the wrong party, it said my bonus was -20. When I "lost" the election ith the wrong party it said my penalty was +20. Ugh.
