1) Zoom increments are too large by 50%
2) Research is to quick/easy - researchers are penalised for not just going *alls out for other stuff..
3) Iconians - grey icon is indistinguishable from background
4) We need a re-start CURRENT map - when u f/u a good map distribution.
5) Side (ship-planet) pannel is v.cool - can it be translucent?
6) Biggest map needs to be bigger with the new strategic context - game is fast at HUGE level so why not?
7) STRATEGIC zoom graphics (icons) and map border influnence changes are superb - I had no idea they were there until
I happened to con them - this needs to be exploited - give strategic view and icons/options something to click or develop a new level of interaction (strategic)?

In a past game I had created a "Troop Carrier" by adding a troop module to a cargo hull. In my latest game the "Troop Carrier" started showing up in the buildable list even though in this game I haven't yet researched Planetary Invasion, so the troop module shouldn't be available.

When two constructors arrive at different starbases on the same turn, I get the "Do you want to upgrade this starbase" prompt for the first starbase, then the same prompt for the second starbase, then the upgrade window for the first starbase, then the upgrade window for the second starbase. IMO it would be more natural to get the 1st prompt, then 1st upgrade window, then the 2nd prompt, then the 2nd upgrade window.

Minor polish issue: When your ships are close to a planet with a moon, the moon will often pass through parts of the ship.

Trading:

Sometimes, when I change the money I ask for some tech, it simply adds up on the bottom of the list. So I get a list with "340bc, 700 bc, 750 bc, 800bc..." when in fact I wont get all this when I'll trade.

Also, I can take out the "300" in this last example, and the trade might pass from red to green (???)

For a matter of time, I had not played the game since an eternity, and had not even bothered looking into it seriously. But now my first comment by looking at the planet interface is that it seems to have loooots of info and things to tweaks.

But I'm often not representing the other players, so maybe I'm the only one... Maybe even clearer separation between "general info", "construction" and whatnot would be of some use. Interface is always about hard decisions so, I dunno just from one -serious- shot (I can say the changes from GC1 are awesome though!)

1- Starbase Fortifation (should be fortification) it shows 2 starbase fortifation IV (I assume should be 1 IV and 1 V)

Actually this isn't quite accurate:

The branch of the tech tree reads:

Starbase Fortifation ==>Starship Fortifation II==>Starship Fortifation III==>Starship Fortifation IV==>Starship Fortifation IV

Notice although the mispelling of "fortification" is true, and there are 2 "IV"s is true, the last four are Starship rather than Starbase.

Game hangs on loading the majority of auto-saved games but seems more reliable on manual saves, but not totally so.

Beta Install issue:

I was not given any choice as to where the beta download was installed. It is not acceptable for you to pick the place to put software on my computer. Please provide an install screen where people can decide where to put installs and updates. Thanks.

This is NOT a beta install issue since this has nothing to do with the game. This is a setting issue with Stardock Central which can be changed by going into Settings under Tools. Once in Settings, click on General, scroll down to Installation, and "check" in the box "Prompt to enter an installation directory". This should work.

Isn't this a setting of SDC central? Go to Tools -> settings -> Games and you can set the install path.

Something very strange happened...
I started a custom race, without a name, and exited the game. Later, I restarted, loaded the autosave, decided that was not the game I wanted, loaded (without exiting) the previous autosave, got the same game, and finally loaded the last saved game that I save myself... The game loaded, presented me with the Tech screens and suddenly I had Techs that I previously did not have, and this without having the preceding techs.
Saving the game immediately, exiting and loading it back showed normal techs, the abnormals gains had gone. I'll try to see if it's repeatable, but it seems that loading from within the game is error prone.

It is repeatable...
Further characteristics: if this happens the mapping between the tech-tree shown at the bottom and the details and select list sub-screens at the top is broken... If I select HYPERDRIVE, I get Ultimate Adamantium instead... and all techs already known seem to map to random techs.... Something's broken here during the load from within the game. You seem to end up with the right number of tech, but the tech tree shows wrong ones...

Running a few turns did not remove the problem... Saving, exiting and reloading did remove it; however, it now shows me almost the entire map... all stars, planets... I'll send a screenshot to GC2bugs.

Just upgraded to version .77[b].009 (is this beta 4?)

I am running windows XP on a pentium 4 with an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700.

This is a two part bug, and smart exception doesn't report anything at all when it crashes.

First, when running Trillian, any Trillian status message will be clickable when the game is running. So if I hit a button on the GalCiv 2 interface that happens to be where a Trillian message is on the desktop, it will make the Trillian window active and go to the desktop.

The second part of this bug is that once on the desktop, the game crashes. Again, smart exception doesn't report anything. I have quit trillian and will see if the game still has this crash issue related to going to the desktop, but it's happened several times and is really annoying.

Mouse froze when selecting a new polotical party for the terrans at the begining of the game.

Had to reboot windows to fix.

1) When you complete the Orbital Terraformer wonder, any already-queued enhancements stay in queue and take the normal build time (until I realized that, I thought the Orbital Terraformer didn't work).

2) I get ghost ships, both mine and the AI ships, where a ship was, but when it moved, it gets displayed in both places. I don't know if this only starts in tactical (zoomed out) mode on the main map, but zooming in/out does not clear up the issue.

3) The AIs aren't following the starbase construction rules. I've seen military starbases with cultural modules, and just about anything with mining modules, including mining starbases that aren't connected to a resource.

4) Other stuff I forgot but will try to remember.

Yes, someone spent way too much time this weekend having fun with GC2.

In a recent game there appeared on the build list something called "basic support" I had not seen that before so I built it. What came out was a Defender Ship, but there was no Defender in the build list.

Just finished a Normal game (yes, I won, my first Normal win with all 9 aliens) I got a lot of warnings that if I let fleet xx (some number) continue that the Drengin would attack the Yor. Now, as much as I would have liked to see that, I send no, don't continue. Something got twisted around thinking the I, playing Terran, was eithr Yor or Drengin.

Several bugs:

1. I can’t create fleet. Whenever I bring two ships together and press ‘create fleet’ button I get message:

‘Fleets cannot include freighters assigned to….’

And when I press 'Done' (the only available button) nothing happens, ships still move separately. This happened even when I had all Logistics technologies researched (and wanted to create the fleet having only two ships).

2. After building Galactic Guidebook my survey modules were still occupying same amount of ship space (btw, it seems to me that lots of wonders and monopolies and some of tile upgrades have little or no effect). Also, it seems to me that galactic guidebook comes to late in the game when surveying the anomalies has not much value but this is a gameplay issue (similar with hyperon(?) computers).

3. When moving ships sometimes ghost images remain on the map, which can be very confusing.

4. Whenever the enemy fleet would attack a colony ship in the orbit around one of my planets the freezer module of my ship was visibly detached from the hull.

5. Photon torpedoes would not appear (at all) in the available module list although latter versions would (photon torpedoes II, III)

I start a new game with 5 opponents, they all are set to a different difficulty level. When I check the opponent race stats, all of the stats are the same for all races.

New game, I build a factory on my starting planet. I save the game. I reload the save that I just made. I can now build another factory or whatever. I have not advanced the turn. beta 77b.
