Multiple expansion question

It has been a long time since I have played Galciv and I am just about to purchase the expansion packs to give it a second lease of life.

One thing that is bugging me though that I can't seem to find answers to is:  Does Twilight of the Arnor replace the earlier expansion from a content perspective or does having all the expansions installed increase the number of in-game options.

I realise I am not wording this very well but the Civ 4 Warlods/ Beyond the Sword content is an example of what I mean, the Warlords expansion being useless from a content perspective when BTS came out.

I hope you understand what I am asking!

Cheers

Both expansions are placed in their own folder and they each get thier own shortcut.

If you want to play Dark Avatar, you doubleclick that shortcut, if you want to play Twilight of the Arnor, you doubleclick that shortcut.

In DA you get all the DA content/options and in TA you get all teh TA content/options.

Well that kind of bites. Is TA a huge step over DA? Which is more fun to play non-campaign games in?

Yes. TA is worth it for the individual tech trees alone! TA plays way better in sandbox mode. Once you play TA you wont got back.

Well, you can't install TA unless you have DA installed.

So if you want the benefits of TA, you have to purchase both.
