Why is it the earthlings can colonize mars immediately when they do not have barren world colonization?

Also, how come the only custom ships that work with TOTA are the star trek ships?

Issues like this have been discussed before, like how radioactive worlds require special things, instead of simply wrapping everything in lead.. or something.

"Special" worlds represent the worst of the worst in their respective category. A toxic world for example, isn't just a case of bad weather and some poison, but acidic rains. Comparatively, a "barren" world isn't just arid - it's a desolate wasteland with very little or no water, surface minerals, where absolutely nothing grows.

Mars actually has pretty good terraformation possibilities, with ice/water (supposedly) in abundance, plenty of minerals, etc. It's not hard to terraform Mars, compared to a truly barren world.

Actually, soil evidence collected by one of our rovers revealed that Martian dirt is quite similar to our own, and that it could probably support many plants were it not for the lack of water.

The Earthling cruiser custom ship works just fine. I treat the download as a .zip and the contents as a mod.

Not to mention the lack of appropriate atmospheric gases and pressures, and extremely low temperatures.
