Another 'Thank You' Post

20 hour days make me cranky. Especially when I'm working on stuff that a vocal minority seem to be begrudging (i.e. we're doing this polish this week because we care about the game).

I apologize for being a jerk. So that we're clear, I am a jerk but I'm usually better at covering it up when I've had more sleep.

Brad, most folks around here have thanked you time and again for your hard work on the game.  I know I certainly appreciate it.  On the other hand, some seem to forget that that hard work they thanked you for was actually that -- hard work.

While I don't enjoy the company of grumpy people, I've spent 20+ hours in front of code for days on end before myself, and I can understand why that would make a person not feel like putting on a happy face.  Part of the uniquenes of Stardock is that the CEO is a coder/gammer himself.

In short, thanks for the hard work!  I appreciate it and recognize that it is incredibly draining to be a CEO and a coder and a project manager and the complaint department.  Keep up the good work, and don't feel too bad about letting the drain show a bit.

And dont let that "vocal minority" detract from knowing that the overwhelming majority of us greatly appreciate all the hard work on GalCiv2.

I think it is part of basic human nature for people to be more likely to speak up when they feel something is wrong, rather than when something is right. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, as the saying goes, but sometimes the squeaking can become a bit too strident. ;)

Like I said on the original thread, I'm excited, but I can wait.

I appreciate it all, too. I'm really eager to get my hands on this new funstuffs, but hey - when it happens it happens. I'll just play DA until then. ;)

Count my thanks and congratulations in as well :P

Yes, Thanks Stardock! I can certainly wait for a more polished TA while I continue to play DA.

I'm no computer programmer (though I envy those who are) but I can relate to Brad in a way. I do ad design and page layout at a local newspaper and I can totally sympathize. As an ad designer, you hear more about what a client doesn't like than if they do like something.

Over the past six years, I can count on one hand how many people have bothered to contact me personally and thank me for a job well done. Fortunately, I have a pretty thick skin thanks to working retail for fifteen years prior to this. My faith in humanity has already been shattered. :)

Hhm... I dont want to "thank you". Normally I dont thank the producer of products I buy. Spending hard earned money for a product, I think that ist enough "thank you". ;)

The important thing for you as a business man is... I would do it again. :)

As a customer i am very pleased with your products and your support so iam willing to spend money for it and watch out for further products in the future.

Keep up the good work!

Here, 2995 pennies worth of Thanks - no questions asked.
And, i'll pile up whatever extra-amount necessary at anything showing the mythic title GC3 (or simply 2 upgrades!) that comes up in the months_years ahead - no contest.

Cuz, the SD gang and mentor delivers.
I mean it.

Thanks guys.  Thankfully, it's all just about done! In theory, our part should be finished tomorrow afternoon and then it's off to the net guys to get it up on servers and all that.

I said it before and I'll say it again, no one that codes for a living should have to do customer service and public relations as well. :D

And of course: thanks for all the hard work!
