Thanks to Stardock

Hello all.

Sorry in advance.  I'm an older citizen and new to these forums, so if I'm not posting in the right place, etc. etc. please forgive me.  No insults intended.  I'm just not greatly computer literate.

I wanted to take a sec and say THANK YOU! to Stardock for the Galactic Civilizations 2 series.   It is an outstanding collection of work and a real treat to play.  I recently purchased the Twilight expansion and it looks just beautiful!

It is very cool to be able to play an expansion that really adds something to the original game that isn't coaster material or just more fluff.  That this is the 2nd such expansion that does so is unprecedented.  I also love Sins of a Solar Empire as well, so its clear to me that Stardock has a wonderful group of talented people working for their company.  THANK YOU!!!!!   (My wife hates you all because I have 2 mistresses: Gal Civ & Sins! :)  )

I also find it remarkable how responsive the Devs are to the gaming community at large.  In this world of shoddy programming & habitual slapping a price on some real trash, its quite refreshing to find someone giving you a product that is worth more than you are paying that just keeps getting better and better.   And *gasp* who actually LISTENS to its customers!  This should be a model more software companies copy.

Just my two cents.  Thanks for listening (or reading) :)

Jparm3rd.

Yep Stardock are the best company out there for games that really are for the users not for the devs mansions, but a bit of profit is always good :D

And they're just as attentive (if not more so) about their desktop customization software, too.

I'm a SD customer for life - I use Object Desktop, ObjectDock+, as well as GalCivII and (as soon as I get back to the US) I'll get Sins.

They're a pretty great company.

Yer it's about time I added my thanks to the pile...

Galciv2 is just an amazing piece of work and you deserve every ounce of success that comes your way. In a landscape that is fast becoming assimilated by the same undead marketing spooks that have sucked the life out of so much thats good in this world, Stardock shines like a beacon of shameless passion.

The dedication you show to your art and its community is truly humbling and with any luck, might one day serve as a catalyst to industry wide change. As for having a CEO who specializes in AI programming...

That's just to damn cool for words.

Sincerly,
ubernaught

If Robert Altman, CEO of Bethesda, posted in person, he'd be assuaged with flames about how he ruined Elder Scrolls and fucked up Fallout.

If the CEO of EA posted in person, he'd pretty much get the same treatment.

Here, the CEO posts, and gets greeted, discusses his games, and is told he's the future savior of PC gaming :)

Anyway, if I had to complain about GC2, it'd be:

1- The crappy UI. Honestly. It's terrible.
2- Tech tree is too 'linear' in terms of speed of progression. Even on Very Slow in an average galaxy, it'll only take you 6 weeks or so to get to the next level of any given tech.

I'm sure I've read as much elsewhere, but thanks for reissuing your stance. Just your paraphrasing alone, seems to validate the negative sentiment with a weight far greater the meager terms of the title.
