It's either the new fantasy game or a merger...

All I know is that I'm going to have to find out about this while at work - on the sly as it were. Not that this type of thing has ever happened before.

Obligatory false prediction...
SD has obtained the rights for Star Control, and the original X-Com, and are currently remaking the series for updated systems, and then moving on to sequels.

ooh that would be very cool! (albeit unlikely)

In true Microsoft style, Bill Gates offered Brad 200 million for Stardock and he has promptly sold the company to Microsoft.

Now when playing MicCiv2 you will be prompted....

"You have chosen to research the technology "Xeno Ethics". Researching this technology may result in unbalanced behavior. Do you want to continue?"

"Are you sure you wish to research the technology "Xeno Ethics". Administrator access will be required."

A few weeks later.....

"The technology you have researched "Xeno Ethics" is not responding. Would you like to go online and look for a solution?"

And after finding the solution......

"Microsoft Civilizations 2 does not know how to open the file "Xeno Ethics". To open this file you can go online or select a program from a list on your computer."

And finally......

"Microsoft Civilizations 2 has encountered a problem. The File "Xeno Ethics" does not exist. The program is shutting down"

Which of course will result in this............

Purchasing Microsoft Civilizations 2 Service Pack 2 Ultimate Edition should fix the problem you're experiencing, provided you download the updates first and apply the hotfix.

The biggest announcement would be that Stardock secretly has developed the full fantasy game and will release it imminently! Well, if I wasn't a dreamer, why would I continue playing these games ...

This goes on...

6-- A dimensional gate has just opened above Plymouth_MI and offered everyone at SD a free-ride to the Korath Nebulae, 10e17LYs away; to which FrogBoy replied - nope, too busy, leave us alone! Only to loose half his staff to a twilight day-dreaming plague which can only be cured by researching ---

7-- A religious Guru met him in some dark corridor while promising paradise in exchange for a free-lifetime_warranty-unrestricted-copy of TotA. They agreed on the principles, but without a code to access SDC for updates. Brad somehow catches the above lunatic sickness as a result. Everything goes beserk in the design dept, afterward. But, since carielf is immuned to the 'desease'... she picks the ball on the run, fires Kryo, loops a trojan into the code (accidentally), inserts an 'Hello-World' gizmo as the game_ending message & goes into hiding somewhere in the Mohaje desert for nine months. In the meantime, owners of GC2 flood the gates with protest. The GC site goes down in flames. Brad snaps out of the dreamy mood, runs to the nearest phone booth, talks to his friend Dr_Who, rushes out dressed with Cape & Suit, yelling *Okay, Time to fix things!*

8-- Lucas & Spielberg invest all their remaining marbles into SD while giving great leeway to the Wardell gang to develop the next Hollywood saga based of course - on a triple serving of the Arnor_Terran_Iconian new Alliance against the strange race that came into existence in number 6 above.

9-- Enough of this!! :)

No matter if the announcement does end up being kind of mundane, this has been one of the most entertaining threads of the weekend

The PC game industry is about to change...

because Brad is about to announce that he is actually my biological father.

I'M IN THE WILL, SUCKERS!

 :CONGRAT:

I would hope that title means that the PC game industry will begin changing the way they release games that are unfinished and start forcing them to release completed games.
My guess is it has to do with the Sins of Solar Empire expansion

WWW Link

And that it will be released for free! (Or close to free)

I'm guessing that Stardock is changing their name to Cyberdyne Systems, and will start work on a revolutionary AI code named Skynet.

Either that or they're going to give away a bunny with every order.

It's Monday, EST ...

<_< >_> <_<

Nope, nothing new here...

What did SD really expect people to not check at midnight?

Note about the Amazon download service: Hardly industry changing if it's anything like their MP3 service which is US only.

The last time I remember a company engaging in such hype was Sports Interactive and it turned out to be something idiotic.

Stardock has bought Eidos, and their next game will be Lara Croft's Galactic Civilizations where all your units have giant false breasts on the front, thus distracting a certain demographic of gamers by having them say "Yes it runs poorly and crashes a lot BUT LOOK AT 'DEM HOOTERS!"
Ahhh A all future expansions free... I dont know why I thought that.... B New game... C Merge... D Something completely different... E Stardock bought someone... F I will shut up now...
Hey or All the above or some of the above.... I already know I messed up.... DAMN!
Stardock has bought Eidos
End of quote

OMG, I think *it* just moved. Don't buy Eidos; they have 'the rot', and are done for. But...if they were to pick up the rights to the seemingly abandoned "Hit Man" title, with it's unique premise, and it's obsessively loyal fan base, and combined that with their commitment to quality and customer service, then they would have a giant killer; one that would have every CEO in the gaming industry dumping on their mid-management, saying "why didn't you think of that"?

Thinking seriously though for a moment, it will be the official release of Impulse. Which although interesting, no doubt will leave more than a few us going...HUH!!!!
Nope.
You are all wrong.

Stardock has invented true time travel.
They can now travel into the future.

So now they can research every bug (as it were) before it happens, and so release the final bug free version as the first release - every time.
