I think the big new is going to be that Brit Spears is the love child of Hillary Clinton and Bill O'Riley.

My guess is Iron Star. Or Starclad. Or Iron Dock. I think Iron Star sounds best, but whatever. S'all good to me.

I hope Stardock isn't being sold, although I don't suspect in the slightest that that is the case. But ooooh . . . I'm so excited.

They are making Thief 4?
Probably new multiplayer code.

LOL, I never knew you had a sense of humor Vuka

Wouldn't that just double their income while making it harder for them to get good gaming press?

Is it that "Society" isn't vaporware and will someday actually see the light of day?

This is supported considering Frogboy was one of the last remaining developers on the project before it faded into obscurity, and that the site was updated on February 14th (although that may have been automatic).

Theories?
Got me some of that too...

1-- StarDock and a conglomerate of 6+ more huge gaming houses acquire all rights to X-Box, Wi-Fi, PS4 & everything else along the same lines. Then, convert anyone remaining to Krynn's faith while sparing us the insult of having to wait six months more (than the already announced April 23rd) for TotA!

2-- Microsoft declares bankrupcy - unless.

3-- An illustrious Japanese mogul buys out Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Sony & Samsung and offers 100% of that much profit to StarDock for the privilege of having control over their next title - only.

4-- Blizzard announces they no longer would take any merger offer, even if from EA.

5-- GC3.

Yup, that sums it up... i may be completely wrong in every case though.

Hmm, there's a rumour floating around that Amazon is about to introduce a digital download service for PC games. Now that would qualify as changing the PC game industry. Brad was in the NW this past week on business, and Amazon is based there... perhaps Stardock is somehow involved in it?

GalCiv III to be released for consoles ONLY!......hehe....

Hmm, while I'd like to think it's an official announcement of the fantasy game, "The PC game industry is about to change..." seems to imply it'll be something else. Maybe the new digital distribution system (Impulse is it?). Hmm, a tool for buying things called Impulse.

I suspect Cauldyth here has probably hit the nail on the head. Brad's been dropping hints about Stardock's new distribution system Impulse (which will replace Stardock Central) for a while now, and that it would be a fairly significant change from anything done before. I can't really imagine anything else that would qualify for such a dramatic thread title. ;)

Maybe Frogboy is having another Tadpole...

How about all PC games will be written in 8086 assembly code and will boot from their own floopy without any OS installed on the machine at all. Now *that* would be good news.

I'm with you here.

I would pay good money to be able to buy a NEW computer that could still run my copies of Wing Commander IV and XCom - Threat Unknown. And Mechwarrior: Mercenaries, now that I think about it.

Wow, The PC Gaming Industry is about to Change? Those are some mighty words. I can't wait until Monday to see what all the fuss is about!

My prediction was going to be "Pantsless Thursdays," given that, as we all know, the PC gaming industry currently goes without pants on Fridays. But would that really be a big enough change to merit this level of hype?

From now on, Stardock will be skipping both PCs and consoles, and will be releasing games exclusively for the XO laptop and the Chumby.

Electronic arts sues SD for the use of '2008' in one of their gaming titles and proceeds to actually buy SD.

TA is then renamed 'Galactic Civilisation 2008', all additional feature are removed and SDC will automatically uninstall all beta version as EA doesn't do public betas. All updates are furthermore available for 1 token from TGN, with the exception of the editors which cost 2 tokens.

Development of Galactic Civilisations 2009 will take precedence over not-MoM, which in turn will henceforth be known as 'Magic Civilisations 2009'. The main difference betwwen GC09 and GC08 will be that multiplayer code is in place (for a subscription fee) and that access to each race costs 1 token.

Oh, and you have to solder a hardware dongle onto your mainboard in order to be able to play any of these games.

There have been some very creative posts here. Thanks all, for an entertaining read. My guess is that it will be the official roll out of 'Impulse'. For those of you not familiar, it is Stardock's replacement for SDC. Yippee! (Twirls index finger in the air). Here's a link: WWW Link

If all it is is Impulse, I'll be sad.

As an ODNT subscriber, I've already been using the Impulse beta for almost a month! That would be anti-climactic. ;)

hmm, can only mean that stardock and steam are merging and that starsteam will be integrated into amazons shop and that starsteam are going to push opengl to make pcgames independent from the underlying os.

i hope that impulse runs under wine
