GalCiv II: Twilight Beta 6A

GalCiv II: Twilight Beta 6A

Sorry for not announcing this sooner, we released the newest Twilight beta and then I had to leave on a business trip.  Beta 6A is the first GalCiv II: Twilight of the Arnor beta to have a significant update to the computer AI along with some new balancing in it.  We're in the home stretch.

Here is the official plan for the rest of the beta:

April 10: Beta 6B

April 23: Release

We're pretty much feature complete. The rest of the time will be spent integrating player feedback into balancing (which means more techs, planetary improvements, etc), more AI updates, and integrating a lot of the new content we've been holding back on.

You'll want to keep an eye on the journals area as that will be where we'll be talking about things we're adding as we add them.

The full change log can be found here.

It didnt took me long to get wet hands and so i bought TA today. What i can see now looks very impressive. Race`s individual technology-trees take the game to the next level. It will be definitely worth its money.

I realized you implemented an option to animate parts in the ship designer. Just a small feat but what would you say to the possibility to get lights to blink?

Just want to reiterate what others have been saying. I much prefer waiting for a polished product with lots of goodies than have a product rushed to release while still really in Beta (Civ III anyone?). The fact that this product has been transparent and honest has made it all better.

Having been playing through the various betas, I can say that it feels like I've gotten an entirely new game with familiar mechanics. The work that has gone into this has been incredible.

Thank you for taking the time to do it right and letting all of us come along for the ride.

I'm having an issue with 6A, I'm playing as the Drengin and have aligned with evil (researched Xeno Ethics only) and have researched techs like Battlestations, Fortification, etc. But whenever I send a constructor to my starbases they say there are no battlestation or fortification upgrades available even though I have the techs. Is there a prerequisite that I'm just missing or what??

Edit: Heres a link to my savegame if that helps:

Evil.sav

Thanks.

Great to hear. I'm not playing the betas because I want to experience the finished product first time. Looking forward to it!

Same here, ALTHOUGH I would really love to add to this "round" of user interactiveness.... would love to get some feedback to the developers, but........

I know this community is a bunch of Strategy badasses at heart, so I'm plenty confident that the guys that support this software (and especially the ones who've been there since the first beta of TA) will cover everything.

I simply wanna go to Frys and pick this up for $20-35, go home, and be bloody amazed at the new look/content/etc. End of April eh....  :SURPRISED:

This will NOT simply replace DA.... it'll be 'another' shade/color/style of DA "to me" anyway.... W/DA, I already have a 4x game for life... w/the addition of TA, I'll be shitting bricks of happyness!

I cannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn't wait,

...End of April. I still remember getting the email, claiming it would be released NOVEMBER, LAST YEAR. D:Hmmm, I also remember people casting their votes to wait and send out a better finished product. Thanks for taking the time for putting out a great product. It was a long wait, but you can never anticipate getting sick or getting overwhelmed with other projects. Patience is a virtue and I am sure that most of us (the other players) will greatly anticipate the release date.

I would like to also state my appreciation that Stardock did NOT rush this release - and I can't tell you how happy I was when Stardock asked the community whether or not they wanted to go forward with the release at that time or wait so they could polish/add more/etc. THANK the lord Stardock doesn't have to bow down to ridiculous 'dates/times/deadlines' set by the Publisher.

I already know that when I get TA installed: it's going to be soooo polished.
I'm still on DA 1.5, so that should tell you something.

Stardock is soon to be up there w/Blizz imo... not that anyone needs my comparison, but that's just how good a company I see Stardock as.

I'm happier than a pig in sh*t to learn that TA is surfacing at the end of this month,

Are you sure you ready for release ?With each version I see more and more "basic" bugs: Invisible core ships (had invisible starbase once) , Freighter command not working , technologies not appear in the tech list (but you can select them from tree) , some starbases can not be repaired with starbase repair kits,, miners doing nothing when in auto mode and there is upgrades to do, 3 "Sol" systems (each one with own earth mars etc) on the same map , CTDs from time to time , "next turn" disapeared once ... stuff like this.

Holy smoking bacon bits!!!!!!!!!
