You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

actually it reminds me of "The Jeep Song" by the Dresden Dolls. okay, moving past my moment of shame over being familiar with thier music (i blame that on one of my ex's), it's about hating the experience of seeing an ex's make/model of car.

Finally got my 200k in 3yrs on a medium map. The metaverse doesn't want to except my password, though. Keeps saying the Metaverse server returned an unrecognized response??? Can't start a new game either. I'll try later, but is anyone else having problems?

ITs apparently back now.

And I've decided to start a new character based on my favorite cat. I've joined the Kzinti.

 

I hope to post a game with him soon.

I did just start him. I had a second character that was never used. I changed its name and added the picture. So, he is brand new. I originally thought maybe i would have a character for doing ZYW's as to not mess with the rating of my original character. But i never got around to doing that.

Welcome to the Empire CaptainYar!  I remember the First Tiger from the series of strips where C & H are trying to decide what to call the leader of G.R.O.S.S, which stood for Get Rid of Slimy girlS, if I recall correctly. ;)

Wow, that is great on your high scores.  I am not after  high scores yet because it is all about having fun, right. I did score 81,200 points in a Immense map, my problem is getting started to win in 8 or 9 years.  Any tips to get to My goal, and it is getting over 100,000 points every game. I close but no cookies. I have read alot of threads to no end. What is the best settings on your maps?  I have been running Rare, Rare, and Uncommon and lasting 16 years to 19 years.

Hey everyone, I thought since the Kzinti come over and play on our Tyranny thread I'd check out the Kzinti thread too....and here I find my fellow ToE's chatting away. So I guess we can all chit-chat on whatever thread. Thanks Jack on the congrats and thanks Dys for bragging on me and the ToE. Think of the Tick when I say, "It feels good to be one of the ToEs on the big galactic foot of doom!"

@Gm00nii - this is the thread that really taught me the basics of how to play for score.

I've learned even more than now, but that thread was the beginning for me. Playing for fun is the best; unfortunately once you start to master a game, things that were once fun become routine. At that point you seek further challenges from the game and sometimes that means working to improve on your previous performances. If you would like to increase your scores here are a few pointers related to your question and what I recommend:

1. Play gigantic, not immense. I am told there are the same number of planets in both maps.

2. Set everything to all abundant. You want as many planets as you can get. More planets = more people and more econ tiles. More people and more econ = better score AND more money for military; more military = better score. We had a famous general here in our Civil War who said, "get there the fastest with the mostest". If you play Galciv that way you will score well. Speed, coupled with as many planets as possible, is everything.

Also, I don't know what version you are playing, but most of these kitty cats and ToEs are still stuck in the Dark Ages playing Dark Avatar, I think because they think it has higher scoring potential than Twilight of the Arnor. IMHO, I think TA has just as much scoring potential as DA, AND it is more fun to play because of the different tech trees. SO I say to everyone, give TA a chance!!! There are more variables and more variables = more fun. Plus I htink I have proved it can score just fine compared to DA

For Mumblers, it may be more.  For ZYWs, it's less, due to the tech capital functioning as a planetary racial bonus rather than a multiplier, among other things.
